@white_male This is what normies think using Windows XP felt like. They're wrong but such naivety is understandable given the current AI slop spyware reality.

@Kang_Kong3 At least it's still a piece of the tobacco plant. Getting some chopped up bits of paper soaked in synthetic nicotine is far worse and I'm pretty sure some cigarette manufacturers do that shit, or else they add something else that makes it stink like shit.

@striderpod @Kang_Kong3 Thought about it but other than borrowing a patch of dirt at my parents summer home my only option would be doing it in my apartment in pots and I'm not much of a gardening person so the plants would likely die or wouldn't be any good for smoking. Plus you're supposed to ferment and dry the leaves too or something.

@Kang_Kong3 I wonder if the empty cigarette tubes with filters also have that. Last I smoked years ago I had bought a bag of whole tobacco leaves, chopped them up myself and stuffed the cigs myself. Other than a few fails that either burned too quick or barely at all it was infinitely better than any mass produced shit they sold at the gas station.

@CSB I miss the days when a tech gimmick was something cool like a DVD drive that could also etch the disc so you could have custom labels and images on it instead of just sharpie doodles.

@CSB Yep there was lightscribe and I think at least one other trademark tech that basically did the same thing.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LightScribeMonochrome but still really cool

@HonkHonkBoom @Billy_Hughes @dictatordave @Dudebro @bronze @BowsacNoodle @egirlyuumimain Helped install one at my parents summer home. That thing runs on three phase 400V, don't remember the exact amperage it's set to but the max set by the power company is 32A so it was less than that, probably like 25A. Comes out to about 15kW I think? Great for washing dishes in the sink but I'd still consider the flow to be barely enough for showering if you like your showers hot not just lukewarm.

@Billy_Hughes @Dudebro @bronze @BowsacNoodle @HonkHonkBoom @dictatordave @egirlyuumimain The power draw is massive to achieve the instant heating. However it's in theory more efficient than a boiler since there are no losses, you only heat the water when you're actually using it while a boiler maintains a volume of water at boiling temp and loses some of that heat even through all the insulation.

@Billy_Hughes @Dudebro @bronze @BowsacNoodle @HonkHonkBoom @dictatordave @egirlyuumimain On the flip side a boiler is typically only a few hundred watts versus the many thousands of watts of an instant heater. And that means you can much more easily power a boiler from solar panels and maybe even integrate a heat pump for additional efficiency.Really the main benefit of instant heat is that it takes up barely any space.

@Titanbreakerkun @Shlomo @Diogenese_Shiplap I was there 2000 years ago. The box was nice and all but my 7870 randomly black screened because of bad ceramic caps and it slightly melted the power connector of my PSU.

@casuist A colleague of mine used to drive one of those as his second job. Turns out that in case the original client calls it off there are sites with molds ready to go where they pour out the concrete so it doesn't all go to waste.Don't really know much about the job, but there's obviously few fuck ups as bad as letting a full load just sit in the tumbler and set. Not even sure if it's possible or worth clearing that out afterwards, would take infinitely more effort than the cleaning in the clip.
