@Ember_Simone @grace_hawthornI agree, it's not worth getting emotionally exhausted over. I make that mistake a lot, and it hurts me (and others) quite a bit. I have ultra strong opinions, and it drives me insane if someone I generally like can't see something from my point of view. I need to work on letting things go without bitterness.

@FemaleIsNotAFeeling @meghanmurphyWell said. When I first realized something was seriously wrong with transsexuality, I went furtively, guiltily googling, not knowing what terms to use (had never heard of TERF or GC) and I found Feminist Current and Meghan's articles helped me escape the shame of feeling that I was a bigoted thought criminal. Thank you, Meghan, I admire what you've done. I feel queasy about porn, and might disagree with what Meghan has said about it--I'm still trying to find exactly what I think about porn in general--but in this battle we need to stick together despite disagreements and not get stuck on ideological purity. It's important to discuss disagreements, but surely we can refrain from attacks? I'm seeing both Meghan and some TRAs absolutely at each other's throats here. Rhetoric needs to be dialed down on both sides. As @femaleisnotafeeling said, as a public figure Meghan is going to get angrily attacked a lot, but it shouldn't come from here. We are in a multi-front war, and we can't afford to attack allies. I'm not a radfem, and some of the things radfems say hurt me and make me want to ditch the whole thing, but to who else am I going to talk about my TRA/porn anger? I need you guys.

@tangleofsnakes @SycaidI don't know if you know of the site pcpartpicker.com ? I use it for my builds and it makes things so much easier because you add in the parts you are considering and it tells you if one won't work with another, and it calculates what size of psu you will need, etc. I also recommend watching buildapcsales on Reddit and the pc parts section on slickdeals.com for deals. It's the gpu that's going to really hurt right nowApologies if this is all old info for you guys

@fpcgggc @meghanmurphy @harpyharpyharpyI absolutely love this post, thank you. For me, by saying I cut off porn-using male friends, I primarily mean the close ones, the ones whom I admire, because those are the people who influence me, emotionally and intellectually. The closer a friend they are, the more damage they can do to me. It is also more distressing to me to know that this person who I care about watches porn; even just that underlying subconscious tension would eventually destroy our friendship anyway. If it's just a casual friend, I don't even want to know. But if I found out they did, I wouldn't care much, because I am realistic about how many men watch it. And I also agree about shame. It's a critical emotion that enforces humane behavior.

@Jennifer_Lee @Butterfly_tsuji @LadyfatAt the very least, raise the age of consent to work in pornography or prostitution. It might have been different for our grandparents, but most people these days aren't mentally mature enough to make a decision like that until they're 25 or 30.

@MazikeenIf you're looking for a golden age mystery, I recommend Strong Poison (1930) by Dorothy L Sayers. It's probably the first feminist detective mystery (although do bear in mind it's 1930s feminism!). A female mystery novelist living (unmarried) with an artist is accused of his murder. Everyone assumes she's guilty because she obviously has loose morals. The detective, a charming/annoying, loopy peer with shell shock, falls in love with her and is determined to save her. She flatly declines to play damsel in distress to his white knight. It's the first of a series. The books aren't typical mysteries (although they're very good at that); they can also stand alone on their literary merits. Very atmospheric. One takes place at a women's college and has a lot of great female professor characters. Sayers was a distinguished academic and also wrote two essays about feminism published under the title "Are Women Human?" She's pretty awesome.

@ObligateSpinster @GalacticTurtle @IsmatI used to enjoy it but it's literally a zombie genre--died 15 years ago and still it lurches onward πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈI do enjoy what the Koreans are doing with it now that they've discovered zombies. Kingdom, Sweet Home, Train to Busan and #Alive were legit fun.

@FeartnTiredI can't stand how almost every business casual top for women is some kind of synthetic fabric. I mean I know they keep their shape and wear better, and I can totally get behind not ironing - - it's a good day for me if I even take my clean laundry out of the laundry basket - - but the feel on your skin is so icky. Cotton forever, even if have to look like I just rolled out of bed πŸ‘•βœŠπŸ˜‘

@tangleofsnakes @MandyJane @polariseraI don't know why they don't just euthanize us at 30 since after that we are sexually useless and start to have too many opinions and care less about what they think of us.

@oxbloodI can't use American sunscreen at all. Japanese and Korean are the only ones to buy if you are sensitive to greasy stuff on your skin. When I'm going to be sweating like mad I use the Biore one on the left, since it's "suupaa wōōtaa puruufu." Not all Biore brands are, so you need to double check if you need waterproofness. It's extremely light compared with US sunscreen, but still a bit thicker than the Nivea one on the right. The Biore one can be felt on the skin a little bit. I don't notice the Nivea one all after it dries. The Nivea one is also cheaper per ml, so on hot days I use the Biore for my face and neck and the Nivea for my hands, arms, legs and feet, since those don't usually get sweaty. Some people say these make their skin dry because they're alcohol based, but I haven't experienced that, and I have been using them for ten years. The Nivea doesn't smell of much, that I can tell, and the Biore smells a bit citrusy.

@oxbloodThe ones I posted are Japanese brands. I buy them from Amazon sellers located in Japan. I don't know where you are, but you may be able to import them for a decent price.

@Debbie_TriptychTwins @Sycaid @Terfest__ShadowI don't think they even perceive normal women at all. They only see porn women and influencers, and those are the only ones who count. They don't want to be us, they want to be these people:

@Debbie_TriptychTwins @Sycaid @Terfest__ShadowYeah, I suspect this is the same for nearly all transitioners. I'm wondering, though, if the goal for most of them is a life lived primarily on social media. They see all these cute cute sexy women influencers who have thousands of adoring followers simply because they are good at being cute and sexy. They want to live that fantasy, and it doesn't matter so much if they don't look female irl because the online persona is what really matters. Maybe the only new gender is online attention whore.

@Debbie_TriptychTwins @Sycaid @Terfest__ShadowDefinitely.It also may partially explain why they are so into posting videos/pictures of themselves in women's restrooms. They don't just want to pee, they want their online persona to be seen there by their followers.

@Fullycaffeinated @AnneBevanSince this is Hot Stove Chat, I'm going to ask if anyone has any opinion about regular ceramic/glass ranges vs induction. I have heard that induction is easier to clean since spills don't burn on.

@maidenI am your future self, calling back to you from decades from now:The sour candy is a delectable yet harsh mistress. Go easy on it and rinse your mouth out after you eat it, and then brush your teeth 20 minutes after. This also goes for citrus fruit, tea and coffee.Teeth sensitivity hurts a lot, there isn't much dentists can do for it short of telling you to brush with Sensodyne. And worst of all, you can't eat sour candy or fruit anymore without pain πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”
