@Gina too green?! Not green enough! I painted my bedroom a light avocado-ish green with white trim six years ago and I've never regretted it. Just get yourself lighting which is fairly warm (=/>4000°k) otherwise it can make one look a smidgeon greenish....

So, this is my first post on mastodon, and the first time I've engaged in social media for about six years.I requested an invite to an instance which had an appealing blurb, largely to do with encouraging robust debate on STEM topics. I'll not name it.I received an invite this morning and checked out the instance. I should have guessed who these fuckers would have been: it was mainly neo-conservatist capitalist whinging and economic fallacies used to support meritocratic ideology. Fuckwits.

@Gina hey Gina, I know where you're coming from with regards to the psychological impacts of isolation, it's very difficult. I don't know where in the world you are, but I hope you're not just being safe for yourself but also keeping the broader community in mind, and please do be rigorous when it comes to reducing the risk to people's lives.

@Gina hey Gina, sorry you're struggling with the way that "work" has become something which we're told should be integral to our sense of self. It's certainly something which does exist, and you're in good company in feeling this way.

@Gina I was speaking with my brother in law yesterday. He restores vintage dirt bikes as a hobby, and he recently had to get some wheels built. They're relatively rare, and so the spokes need to be custom made and are pretty tricky. There's only one guy in the country who can do it as far as we know. So, he went out there, and the guy came out of his shed and right off the bat called him a cunt.

@Gina Here in Australia that's actually fairly acceptable, but definitely odd. He told my brother in law that it'll be about three months wait. The other day my b.i.l. Called him to check on the progress, and the guy said he was going to head bush for a week or two so the wheels would be late, but "that's just how she goes eh?". In my opinion, this is a man who has work-life sorted.

@hund that's quite interesting - good on him.You seem to be suggesting that not investing his money to increase his wealth is indicative of a lack of intelligence?I doubt that Torvalds is eating baked bean sandwiches for dinner, why do you think that his decision (which seems to be influenced by his morality) is a poor choice?Furthermore, what kind of work does money do for one? I thought that only animals could work, and that money was one way to compel humans to work....
