@Giga_Vril_Breaker @Smirking @SaltWraith @Shadowman311 AC has both narrative problems and mechanic issuesFor narrative, the idea was originally a plot around secret histories, where the events in reality were significantly different from what we were told. I don't think I need to tell anyone here how quickly that could be a problematic premise for a AAA title to run with for a series. So AC instead just makes you a badass on the side of histories good guys with ancient technology occasionally popping up.From the mechanic side, AC is just too easy for what the profession is supposed to be. As a player you are never really asked to make hard choices regarding your target. You can carry all your gear and tank your way into a fortress, instead of making a risk analysis of using poison/throwing knives/explosives. No worry of open fights against squads of guards posing serious risk of failure.None of the villains were very memorable, in fact I barely remember much of the games I have played because it's just a blur of me beating down the entire town with a mace, which while fun, doesn't feel like the behavior of an assassin.

If a game is going to be open world then be open world. If I lose my target in the chase then maybe the game should proceed with the target being harder to find or get close to, who might send hitmen after me. And maybe the failed attempt results in the target achieving some goal that changes the landscape of the game in some way. Maybe leading to an endgame with you just trying to survive instead of victorious.An organic environment where the enemy can put unscripted points on the board against you might be too terrifying for the normie gamer though.
