Most Raspberry Pi customers aren't cops, they're small time makers and social outsiders that are trying to avoid major manufacturers due to their constant tracking and exploitation of our data, aka PEOPLE WHO HATE SURVEILLANCE.And to post this in the Fediverse, of all places! @futurebird I suspect this is a "pivot to video" move, aka, something being pushed by YouTube management without actual evidence that people want it (or with fraudulent evidence) to the detriment of how people actually want to use the service.But then again, tons of people love livestreams and I just don't get that, either, so maybe it's the children who are wrong.

@futurebird @rlstone4dems There are definitely people with toxic views about home ownership and ladder climbing.However, that's not necessarily the case for people getting a starter home. My wife and I bought a small 2 bedroom "starter home" a few years after we got married. When I say "small 2 bedroom", I don't mean that a 2 bedroom house is necessarily small, I mean this house was small for a 2 bedroom.1/N

@futurebird I think the potential problem with this is that they wouldn't be allowed to moderate it because of the First Amendment. If they had an account on a "respectable" social media service, they could at least rely on that service to perform basic moderation. But if they ran their own service, they wouldn't be allowed to moderate it. They wouldn't even be allowed to defederate the Nazi instances.

@futurebird One of the many absurd and evil parts of US immigration law is that it makes immigrants get tax ID numbers or else face the threat of never being able to get legal status. This means they must pay taxes, but are ineligible for the benefits they fund (SS, Medicare, etc.).I got certified in immigration law in 2017, and the more I learned, the clearer it became the point is to have a perpetual source of abusable underclass laborers.

@futurebird That's always been part of the Republican message about immigrants, at least in my lifetime. That they're "leeches on the welfare state", despite reality.What's surprising is that his funders think either:1. He's not going to do it and this is just political rhetoric.2. American laborers are abusable enough to replace the lost migrant labor without increasing wages.

@futurebird I wish you split "other/I'm not annoying" into to separate options; I want to see how many people are wrong about how annoying they are.This is not a correction; I'm just annoying in a different way. 😂Also I will correct people. I'm annoying in that way, too. I just think if you believe a wrong thing (taxonomy, etc.) you should be excited to learn the right thing. But so many people AREN'T?
