This is actually from June, but I don’t feel like this made the rounds.Apparently all non-grandfathered insurance plans must cover PrEP with $0 patient cost sharing by 2021 plan years. This means no copays, no co-insurance, deductible waived. It’s preventative medicine and honestly, this is overduehttps://www.healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377/hblog20190613.596797/full/

Why do we so often treat ourselves far worse than we would treat someone else in a relationship?

Just remember that actually most of us have no idea what we are doing and just make it up as we go. I include myself in this as much as anyone else.

I feel like I have had a relatively smooth transition, and I really wish the things that made that possible were much more universal.

The best thing about crushes is that you can just enjoy them and it doesn’t ever have to be anything more.

If anyone wants a distraction, I would love to talk about the effects of HRT of trans women’s genitalia. Like so many things, this is a sensitive subject and something of a taboo still.I’ve seen everything ranging from less spontaneous erections, all the way to zero ability to get erect. Some women report shrinkage of testicles and penis, and some don’t. Some women have painful erections, and again some do not.Would love to hear from anyone who has used medical intervention (ED medication, testosterone) and how successful it was.

@kaniini Interesting. I personally haven’t used spiro (or any anti-androgen) in a year. I didn’t really notice any erectile changes when i went off of it. My T is still down below cis woman levels, so that’s probably why.

@allison @kaniini oh yeah, I have watched that. I am familiar with Dr. Powers and his methods, they’re great. I thought maybe you had literature or something.

@salixlucida “My tween will never know the sound of me calling her name from another room after the phone rings. She'll never sit on our kitchen floor, refrigerator humming in the background, twisting a cord around her finger while talking to her best friend.”This sounds like more weird boomer nostalgia. My kid will never have polio either, things change. They progress.

@vyr wow. This almost makes me want to change careers. Can I get a well paying job where I do nothing but attend these meetings? I know nothing about any tech industry and have no experience.

@tuxicoman @denikombucha @wmd @patience Voting statistics exist for a wide array of demographics. Here’s one that also shows college grads, and then breaks that down into race.(Blue is HRC, Red is Trump)

@cambrian_era @cambrian_era Yep. Hospitals out these obscene numbers that make it impossible to access high level care without insurance. This also allows the insurance company to be like “look at the amazing work we did, negotiating $111k off your bill” (seriously, they present it this way on EOBs).Meanwhile, if you go and see someone like McGinn (who doesn’t take insurance), everything is much more straightforward and you get simple bill with the actual costs and it does end up being closer (i think less) to that 35k charge.

@cambrian_era absolutely. It’s a system that is now setup to justify its own existence. And the most complicated aspects deal with the highest cost treatments, things most of us will only hopefully experience super rarely. It makes it just impossible for any kind of transparency at the times when people need it most.
