@bgtlover @raccoon @fediversenews @fediverse Have any substantial polls been done to see what people want? I've seen loads of posts from people who want quote posts. A lot of new people have appeared over the past several months and what they want may differ from earlier users.

@itsecbot Add it to the reasons I keep a local folder on my desktop for my emails -- great to have. If online access poops out, I still have my complete archive. Also, I can always opt to use one of the other email services I have.But the huge issue I have with desktop Outlook is I don't like it synching. If someone ever hacks my gmail account (which is linked to the desktop Outlook) and deletes everything -- it will all disappear in Outlook.I've tried all sorts of things to stop the synching and now have a complicated system set up to make sure I have a constant backup of my emails.

Back in 2013 I developed an outreach program to address #misinformation about infectious diseases, prevention and #vaccines. It combined history, theatre and science. I took it to over a dozen street festivals. Local medical, bioscience, public health students and the odd doctor and public health professional put on historic costumes, and were each given an historic story based on the pre-vaccine era they time-traveled from. The histories gave the passersby we talked to an idea of what life was like pre-vaccines. The fact these costumed people were experts meant visitors could have really informed conversations. Each festival day, we talked to 300-500 individuals. Then COVID happened. @futurebird Sometimes I just scroll through all 3 feeds (Home, Explore, Live Feeds) and see what pops up. Sometimes I'll scroll through someone else's posts because they're interesting -- and often that's on another server and takes extra clunky steps to see more of their posts. And then more clunky steps to like or reply. Several things on Mastodon are clunky to do. But seeing as it's run by tens of thousands of volunteers on as many servers, it's impressive it works as well as it does.
