Purchases a license to host some software, and when setting it up I caught what appears to be homemade password hashing, but I just don't have the #ghidra skills to prove it πŸ˜£πŸ˜…#infosec #cybersecurity

@seb Maybe? A cursory google of ASP and .Net hashing does help the hashes make a bit more sense to me. But then there's the fact that they all have the same 13 byte prefix. That's certainly odd!

@john Yes, because right or wrong some of us browse Mastodon in the workplace, and being able to know that Not Safe For Work imagery won't just appear in our feeds can be paramount.Any instance that doesn't require CW's for nudity should be muted or worse, IMO

For anyone looking for a new #CTF to do, I gotta recommend @runZeroInc 's Coin Challenge. It's deceptively tricky, with a rather steep learning curve. I've yet to complete it myself, but the challenges are certainly thought provoking. The link to get started is: https://info.runzero.com/challenge-coin#InfoSec #CyberSecurity #HackThePlanet

@tek "Change reblogs to be excluded from "Posts and replies" tab in web UI" So glad to see this fixed. I hated that twitter doesn't have a filtered view, and I was a bit let down Mastodon didn't.

Is there any downside to using #LetsEncrypt's #certbot to get free SSL certs for my sites? Like, are they considered "good" certs? I really don't have anything too sensitive going on on my sites, save for a git repo, so I'm not too pressed about the quality. But, is there some gotcha I'm missing?#SysAdmin #technology #WebDev #IndieWeb

At $dayJob, I have a cron job that uses a #PHP script to #FTP into a service by host name. The script empties a directory, and then replaces the files. This weekend we switched name servers over to GoDaddy, and now the FTP commands, specfically "ftp_put" no longer work. The error I'm getting is "ftp_put(): php_connect_nonb() failed: No error (0)"The connection process still succeeds, as well as changing directories, but it stops here. I am using "ftp_pasv($ftp, true);" I also tried using FTP_USEPASVADDRESS to no avail. The IP for the server has not changed, and neither has the FTP config on the server, but I'm fairly certain the issue is server side. The server is running pure-ftpd (but the config file is readonly even for root?).Any ideas on what could be causing this?I also tried doing a test through the command line, and it also fails when I try to put a file. Included is packet capture of what the looks like. After the last line, it just hangs.#DNS #SysAdmin #boost

@tek I mean, to the extent of my knowledge, nothing changed. Now, I'm not the one that moved name servers, my boss did it, but even connecting by direct IP doesn't resolve it. As for whether the server uses DNS, I doubt it? My predecessor wasn't the most elegant when it comes to setting things up, and that sounds out of his style. A cached NXDomain, maybe? I'm really not sure where I'd find or troubleshoot something like that.

Holy moly I'm glad that's over with. I tried to take a "readability over optimization" approach, but when I got to the actual input, it was too much and JS ran out of memory. My updated solution did work for both parts, but for some reason part ii takes nearly 5 minutes to find the answer πŸ’€Whatever. Onto day 6!I just completed "If You Give A Seed A Fertilizer" - Day 5 - Advent of Code 2023 #AdventOfCode #TypeScript https://adventofcode.com/2023/day/5

For realsies tho, if anyone would like to take a look at my solution (specifically part 2) and let me know why it takes so long, and how I might optimize it, I'd appreciate it a lot.#AdventOfCode2023 #AdventOfCode #TypeScripthttps://git.vzqk50.com/ApisNecros/AdventOfCode-ts-2023/src/main/5/5_2.ts
