Man the ppl who make these apps for Mastodon need to find a way to detect the maximum post length allowed by your instance cuz once you taste 2000 characters, 500 feels like one sentence lol.

@rixx tbh I'm not exactly sure what could be done. For my part I remain because the interactions here tend to be a lot more genuine than other platforms which, by comparison, are more like a billion people shouting in a small room

I'm probably going to have to look for other work cuz this job isn't gonna cut it unless I have some kind of miracle happen. I finally regret not completing my degree because atm I'm only really qualified for factory work, and I'm pretty sure going back to that world will kill me even if I do make a decent wage.

It made sense to drop out of college almost a decade ago because, living with my parents in relative comfort, going several grand in debt for a degree that wouldn't help me achieve my actual dreams would have been stupid. Now, living alone in an apartment I can barely afford and barely enough energy for my full time job- let alone side work for my career -I hate myself for being so naive and idealistic

@jeffalyanak @ben by the time I stopped using Windows it was taking me up to an hour everytime to update. It's fuckin ridiculous.Meanwhile Linux can update everything in the background, at your explicit command, and then politely asks to restart.

@jeffalyanak @ben my main machine is running Ubuntu atm, but on my laptop I'm doing a test run of Debian to make sure all the software I need is usable the way I need it to be (which it seems like it, since Ubuntu is just derivative of Debian) and I'll probably convert my main machine to it soon.
