OK #fediverse #mastodon admins.I have a company. (We’re YouTubers.) There are four of us. We’d like to set up a small mastodon server that ONLY we can toot from. We’d be doing behind the scenes toots, engaging with audience etc. Can someone help me understand what the costs would be in terms of bandwidth? I’m trying to decide if we can afford it…

Are there any #network and #ZFS experts about? The @show server has a 10GBe connection to a 10Gbe switch. It's connected to my edit machine. When copying (or indeed using it), it does this: (Image is a capture of the write cycle). It runs #Ubuntu (latest LTS). Share is SMB. I've looked at the drives and when under full speed, I'm seeing 1GiB/s to the ZFS array (which is ~ 8.x GibpsI just wish I knew why this fluctuates. Nobody else using the server. Plenty of RAM (360+GB) + 4TB Cache.

I can’t get my piscsi to play nice. I’ve messed with SCSI assignments of iso files, I’ve tried turning the power/termination switches off and on in different order. This is as close as I get to seeing a cd image (emulated drives work fine) #Retrocomputing #Macintosh #powerpc #powerbook5300 #OS8.1
