After suffering through this in the most heroic manner possible, he rises from the dead and returns to god.It is extremely common to face evil when attempting good, or to not do good due to fear of evil, both of which can even lead to resorting to evil oneself. It is extremely common for people to face all sorts of evil and tragedy for long periods of time before their good actions bear fruit. That doesn’t even get into the fact that they’ve always been a rigid, cult-like bureaucracy built off of the foundations of Christianity. These aspects are antithetical to Christ’s message, which was to fulfill the law by embodying and modeling the spirit behind the law.

Their claim, which you repeat here, is that their leadership was passed down directly from Peter. This is the strongest claim, sure, but considering how many antithetical things popes have done over the centuries, and choosing rigid dogmatism over the renewability of spirit, the Catholic Church is much more akin to a group of Christian Pharisees in Jesus time then the apostles

@CSB In some sense, this is why metrics such as VO2 max and strength/power capacity have strong correlation with health.. you get a high vo2 max from lots of cardio for years (and keeping decent bmi), you can lift a lot if you’ve trained hard for years, you can stay lean better if you’ve eaten good for years, this all translates to optimized gene expression due to your cumulative sum of healthy habits.
