@Chronic-Yonic @earlgrey I hung around with gay men too when I was younger for the same reason. Now I don't hang around with any men if I can help it. Have to put up with the occasional husband of a friend, hard to avoid sometimes no matter how much I try 😁

@earlgrey @Chronic-Yonic The thing about gay men is they like to pretend they have been oppressed in the same way as women to manipulate us into being their allies (and run about after them like their mothers) when in fact they were never 'oppressed.' They were victimised and persecuted but they still held positions of power in society and if they were powerful enough they never even had to hide their sexuality. They have no clue about women's lives and especially lesbians lives. If they married to conceal their sexuality, they were the dominant one in the relationship, the one using the woman for their own ends and having a housemaid and someone to have their children in the process.

@Ana00000 As a mental health practitioner, I was always confused by what was, back in the day, the approach to transexualism (i.e. social then medical transition). It seemed to me that such an approach was a failure of treatment, not a treatment in itself. Surely the epitome of good mental health is to accept yourself, your situation & live the best within it and services should be designed around that. Also, of course if someone has a paraphilia, acknowledging it and telling them it is acceptable behaviour will only make them want to do it more and take it further; for someone with a delusional idea, no amount of affirmation and collusion will help, they will just make more and more demands so they never have to face reality; and for someone who experiences distress because of reality, you may relieve that distress when others pretend fantasy is real, but then you just pass that distress on. 'Transition' from one sex to another is not only impossible, but the attempt to do so is harmful to the individual and to society. It pains me that people like yourself were sent on this harmful journey instead of being offered proper mental health & social support. I too was suicidal when in my early twenties. I went down a religious route because I couldn't accept myself (converted to Islam - very strict gender roles). Now in my late forties, an atheist out lesbian, I've found the contentment that could've been mine in my twenties if only someone had taken the time and effort to tell me that it's ok to be me. I wish you luck in your recovery and to reassure you that it will only continue getting better.

Shit storylines & their lesbian couple had to be a he and a they them - so progressive 🙄 I loved TNG but DS9 is my favourite & when they did a lesbian couple (Dax storyline) no one even mentioned it - which is exactly how it would be in future, no one would give a damn about feckin' pronouns or what sex couples are.

'transgender youth should not be able to access medical treatment' sounds like she's some kinda monster who wants trans youth with cancer to die as opposed to not wanting healthy kids to take dangerous medications and get body parts cut off. @ninafromcanadaeh Whilst I'm highly critical of the medical model in psychiatry, this person's claim psychiatrist's give treatment based on a person's subjective feelings is very far from the truth. They've clearly never spent time with someone with severe depression or a genuine delusion (I see trans more akin to fetish/OCD than delusion), or who's hypomanic, or in the middle of a panic attack, or responding to distressing voices etc. There's nearly always clear evidence. There can never be evidence for a man 'feeling like' a woman because he simply isn't one.

@LisbonMuse I truly believe there would be conflict but never resolved by war in a true Matriarchy. If women held all the social, economic and political levers of power in society, it would be wielded in such a different way to how men do it because of the fundamental differences between us related to our reproductive roles. I also think we would not be facing climate disaster and we would've made some real strides towards eliminating poverty. Unfortunately, precisely because of the differences between the sexes, the men have managed to bully their way into power, are keen to stay there and would never step aside to create a better world so my musings on Matriarchy are just that, musings.

@Marvin @LisbonMuse Going to war over resources to save your children would also mean sending your children to war so I'm not sure it is too difficult to imagine women would find another, more cooperative way to resolve conflict. Also, imagining a 'lady Hitler' is imagining our current patriarchal history but with women doing what the men did. The point I was trying to make is that matriarchal society would be so completely different that it is actually difficult to imagine. However, if the half of the human race who naturally exist to carry, grow and subsequently nurture all future humans, was viewed as the superior sex, whole & complete, whilst the half who merely fertilise an egg, were viewed as less valuable to society, one can imagine a society that develops around caring & nurture. Some studies have shown that men's testosterone levels drop when they hear a crying child so if men were to be valued more because they adopt caring roles, possibly men's propensity to violence would be reduced in the process. All a moot point of course, because these very differences are what's led to patriarchy in the first place and although humans are evolved enough to imagine and strive for change, it's very difficult to give up power once you have it. That's why even 'nice men' prop up patriarchy & you'll rarely meet one who would willingly step aside and give their place to a woman or strive to elevate her voice over his own.

@HebrideanHecate My sister manages a charity shop, there's some people use them as dumping grounds for all their crap. Broken toys, dirty underwear, clothes full of holes or filthy. Less effort than sorting and disposing of stuff themselves I guess. But really there's no excuse for sex toys. Sounds like a deliberate thing pervs would do. There's a tranny comes in regularly to her shop - comes in as a man but she's seen him elsewhere in womanface which didn't surprise her as he gave off massive creep vibes and was already on her radar. She's asked the volunteers to pretend the changing room is out of bounds if he asks. She's caught him on the CCTV taking photos of high heels knowing fine well it's probably wank fodder for him later. He sends his wife in to buy stuff for him that's he's eyed up earlier, poor woman, hope she leaves him soon, apparently she's lovely.
