@leo Some of the big players like Libsyn platform violent Neo-Nazi podcasts. Don't give them your business!

@Raspberry_Pi @esther This is an incredibly disappointing response coming from you guys. This was well articulated criticism of your post, and you're just being a jerk.Did you do any due diligence at all about your who your audience is here before you joined the Fediverse?

Unprofessional Protip:Keep a 1GB file full of random numbers on your #Linux server's disk so that when you neglect it and let the drive get full, you have 1GB you can delete right away to get things less broken.

@mastodonusercount Oh wow, I guess banning the official Mastodon account, and a bunch of journalists critical of Elon really pushed the needle.

@mastodonusercount Don't believe the dip!The script relies on https://instances.social/ to work properly, and it's down. Hugged to death!

Hey #Journalists that are joining Mastodon! 👋Happy to have you here. Now please, learn how Mastodon works, and start reporting on it honestly. Every mainstream source that writes about it gets things atrociously wrong.I get that it's really different than traditional social media, but journalistic integrity means doing your research before you publish something, and some of these articles are just ridiculously incorrect. They're hard to take seriously. Like this: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-63999452

This is why I have a general distrust of Pleroma users. I don't care that it is "more lightweight" than Mastodon. I don't care that it has extra features and multiple frontends. Its Nazis all the way down. Even the official Pleroma website recommends Nazi-friendly instances, and their devs are openly friendly with out-and-proud Nazis.

With all these new followers, it's time for a proper reintroduction. My name is Alex, I live in Seattle, and I am Product Support Specialist in the NetSec sector. On Mastodon you'll generally find me talking about music, retrocomputing, demoscene, and leftist politics.I've been on Mastodon for a couple of years now, but it hasn't been my main home until now.Looking forward to a new chapter here on the Fediverse with all of you!

Amazing that Amazon has billions of dollars of computing infrastructure, is diving head-first into machine learning and AI, and yet you can search "16TB SSD" on their storefront and find countless options under $50 because they really don't give a single shit if their customers are getting scammed.

@stux These are really fun! I'll make sure to clone the git repo so I too can own one of these "NFTs".Just curious, are the backgrounds generated from Skybox AI (Blockade Labs), or sourced from somewhere else?

@stux I really want to learn how they do it. I have tried a lot of experiments with Stable Diffusion, and it does a terrible job with a 360 view. I'm amazed that Skybox manages to get all the shadows pointing the right way!

Cryptocurrency people are so funny. Recently someone with deep pockets spent six-figures embedding 9MB of encrypted data into the BTC blockchain.I read a write-up about it one some website dedicated to cryptocurrency, and the author was especially impressed with the fact that encrypted data cannot be decrypted without a key. He noted that "not even ChatGPT could decrypt it".Of course Cryptocurrency people don't understand cryptography... That's why they buy pretend internet money.

There is something so incredibly funny to me about watching a journalist that specializes in Cryptocurrency encountering a 9MB blob of encrypted data, and marveling over the fact that a language model couldn't magically break the cypher. And then to tell the world that this is how he tried to decrypt data, with zero awareness that they're saying something devastatingly stupid to anyone who actually understands the topic. And cryptography is literally the backbone of the tech he covers...

Found the article. Seems like I was off on the cost ($64k, not six-figures), but here's the whole thing if you want to die inside: https://cointelegraph.com/news/mysterious-bitcoiner-spends-64k-inscribe-9mb-of-data-on-bitcoin
