I think the question we really ought to be asking is, "Who stands to benefit immensely, in terms of dollars and politics, if Twitter collapses right now? Because we can pretend that Musk is this incompetent and maybe he is, but maybe he isn't and this is deliberate.

Okay, fine, actual #introduction . I've been on the Internet or social media by the handle Albatross since 1977.In 1983 I created the world's first #MMORPG company, GamBit MultiSystems, and our franchisees went on to start some big-name game companies.In 1991 I helped co-write the Internet Gopher protocol, RFC 1436. I've been in infosec since 1996 and I'm heartily tired of keyboards.I've written books and plays and shoot pictures. I have 3 terrific adult kids.

@louis @Mastodon Maybe calling potential community members "stupid" isn't the best approach, hm? I'm not 'stupid,' but when I tried to help several people adopt Mastodon it was quite challenging. They'd look up servers of interest and then learn the servers were not accepting new users. The criteria by which one selected a server was completely unclear. My friends were anxious that if they joined the 'wrong' server or posted 'off-topic' comments for that server they would be sanctioned.

Finally closed down my Twitter account which I've had for at least 18 years. I just felt more and more sick whenever I even browsed the site, to say nothing of posting. Nothing but bots and fascists and fascist bots. Quite depressing but I can't even casually participate in that weird, delusional clusterfuck anymore.
