The problem with "centrists" is that, while it's great that they're so open to compromise, they're also open to compromise with pure, unadulterated evil. And the fact is, you CAN'T compromise with evil because evil will never compromise with you.So, really, centrists are extensions of the evil. They're the banal version of it that creeps in while no one's looking.https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/no-labels-third-party-joe-manchin-2024-election-rcna94927

By convincing themselves that "both sides do it", our news media set themselves (and America) up for failure."Both sides do it" insists that everyone does everything for entirely political reasons. If the R's do something outrageous, it's political. If the D's react to it in any way - it's political, too. This is bullshit. When Donald Trump and his Republican co-conspirators attempted to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power, they were NOT acting politically. They were acting CRIMINALLY - albeit with a political purpose. It's not the same. But, because our news media thinks criminal acts are political then any reaction to the criminal act will be just as political.Except of course, reacting to a crime (such as sedition, insurrection or treason) isn't political. If anything, it's patriotic. And patriotism is definitely something both sides don't do.

Robert Reich has it right. More workers are striking - and all for the very same reason: from CEOs on down, corporate executives are making far more money than those who actually make the things their corporations sell. https://masto.ai/@rbreich/110752927873012184

Confession: I've had to stop many times while reading this document to go outside and scream. That's how angry it makes me. I'm angry that this vile, corrupt, racist, misogynist man was anywhere near America's reins of power. And how so many people went along with him...https://www.washingtonpost.com/documents/8a7503af-fde7-4061-818c-7d7e0ee06036.pdf?itid=lk_inline_manual_4

Jack Smith will take down Donald Trump. His two main witnesses against Trump are his veep (Pence) and his Chief of Staff (Meadows). They will make Trump the person who condemns Trump by speaking Trump's words under oath in a courtroom. Especially "You're being too honest".Trump will be convicted. And then Jack Smith and the DOJ will turn to chop up the rest of the Republican rattlesnake. It will be a fact: Donald Trump PERPETRATED a (now) legally established conspiracy to defraud America. Everyone who took part in that conspiracy in any way, shape or form must answer for their actions. Or their INACTION.See something, SAY something. See something, say NOTHING?Hmmmmmm... Now, why would that be. There were lots of R's who insisted they hated Trump's boorishness but loved his "policies". That may have worked then, it won't work when the "policies" are all criminal conspiracies. This will transcend pulling a thread on a vile Christmas sweater. This is the whole awful garment already in pieces. Sweep em up and throw them away - in federal prison. It will (slowly) dawn on the Republican Party that (almost) every last one of them is in deep legal peril - with all the good deals already gone - because there's no one up above them to give up.That's when the really desperate R's will turn to the piece of dirt they hold that still has considerable value (where reducing a long prison sentence is concerned).Donald Trump's odd relationship with Vladimir Putin.Donald Trump had to win 2020 because he needed to finish quashing all possible investigation into how he "won" in 2016. Take Putin & Russia out of the 2016 equation and Trump would never have been POTUS.The GOP knew it even before they nominated Trump. Current Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy said (upon entering a meeting of GOP leaders) on June 25, 2016 "There's two people I think Putin pays - Rohrbacher and Trump - swear to God!" Everyone in the room knew that California's Dana Rohrbacher WAS in Moscow's pocket. But Trump? No one contradicted McCarthy. Or suggested they do something about it - like call the FBI. Instead, then Speaker Of The House Paul Ryan insisted they keep this terrible secret SECRET. "That's how we know we're family," is how he put it.You can find all that here -https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/house-majority-leader-to-colleagues-in-2016-i-think-putin-pays-trump/2017/05/17/515f6f8a-3aff-11e7-8854-21f359183e8c_story.htmlEvery American of voting age needs to read this document. It's not a difficult doc to read. In fact, it flows very nicely - if sickeningly. If the rule of law really does have its way here, we are about to witness the destruction of the entire Republican Party. When this is done, the Republican brand will be toast (except to the hard core). There will need to be a conservative party to keep progressives like me in check. But it won't be the GOP. That institution will lie in The History Graveyard alongside the Whigs. But the Whigs won't like having traitors like the Republicans anywhere near them.https://www.washingtonpost.com/documents/8a7503af-fde7-4061-818c-7d7e0ee06036.pdf?itid=lk_inline_manual_4

@pixelpusher220 Trump won't win this election because, in fact, he's never won any election - 2016 included. That's what this - really - is all about. No one was watching Trump then - watching his relationship w Russia or any of his other subterfuges. Now, he's under a microscope. Trump's but the tip of the iceberg. A huge chunk of elected Republicans will go down with Trump. I won't matter what Trump's base thinks anymore - they'll have been cut off from their political arm.

@Npars01 @GreenFire @GottaLaff @atrupar At some point, investigators & prosecutors will have to ask the obvious question about the insurrection (and all its component parts including fake elector schemes) - who paid for it? Who, for example, paid the "war room's" hotel bill at the Willard?Just as the coup's foot soldiers and plotters need to be prosecuted, so, too, must we prosecute the money. And then we can seize it - which will underwrite the cost of the prosecution - and maybe even pay down our national debt some...

Poor, poor Lindsey Graham - caught in the spotlight's harsh glare again... I wonder what Lindsey's doing in those photos they have - you know, the ones they're holding over Lindsey's head as kompromat. I suspect those photos were part of what the FBI found in Trump's safe at Mar-A-Lago.I know what I think is in those photos but let's put it out to the floor:What's Lindsey Graham doing in the kompromat photos Donald Trump is holding over Lindsey's head?

If we forced gun owners to insure their weapons for liability, the insurance industry would explain - in dollars and cents - how dangerous having a gun in your house is versus NOT having a gun.If every gun purchaser had to also purchase liability insurance for their death machine (that's what guns literally are), far fewer of them would purchase guns - because they couldn't afford the insurance bite.I wonder if that's why we've never forced the owners of a device designed to KILL people to take FINANCIAL responsibility for their possession. Cars kill people BY ACCIDENT yet we're all forced - by law - to insure ourselves in case something UNEXPECTED happens. The gun industry has bamboozled America to literal death.

Did any of the opinion polls predict last night's outcome across all those states? No, they did not. The outcome - yet again - baffled the pollsters - and therefore the news media who, as always, treat poll results like science. Close races were NOT close. And not only did Virginia's Gov Youngkin NOT get control of VA's state house - like the news media seemed to expect he would (because he said he would) - the Democrats held onto the VA state senate AND RETOOK THE VA STATE HOUSE.Did ANY of the pollsters forecast THAT?NO.How people answer a pollster's question and how they actually vote - and why - can differ. But not for the reason pollsters think - because the voter's being dishonest. Much more likely, they answered the question the way they did because of the question itself!Polling questions are crafted and sweated over and argued about. They're the polls framework. It's unstated, proprietary justification for being. Alas, since the public not being polled never knows how any pollster FRAMED their poll to the person taking it, we don't actually know what any pollster is actually asking.Further - this is really important - consider who has the time to take a poll, answering some stranger's questions. Right off the bat, polls can only ever represent one particular, less-busy slice of the population. But - as each election keeps proving, the population is changing - HAS CHANGED - in profound ways. Events have turned millions of non-voters into voters because, suddenly, they recognized not just that they had skin in the game, but how much skin they had in the game. A shitload.Donald Trump didn't turn the Republican Party into this corrupt, treasonous monstrosity, he merely unleashed the GOP's dark id. All their latent racism, bigotry and misogyny suddenly got free rein to run amok. And here we are!The polls keep saying one thing (like Trump will defeat Biden next year) while the results from 2018 onward say something else entirely.Everything has changed. To use a word Republicans hate, Democrats got woke. Or, the Democrats that weren't woke got woke. The party that rarely showed up to vote started showing up to vote - and not just in the presidential years. We are not living in the America the pollsters think they're polling. And the one our news media apparently thinks we all live in.https://howtolivebullshit-free.com/2023/11/05/opinion-polls-v-horse-manure/

The entire GOP has behaved OBSTRUCTIVELY in myriad ways to protect Trump from any/all avenues of investigation. They've done it from the very get-go.Especially when anyone looked into Trump's treasonous relationship with Russia. Obstruction of THAT investigation equals conspiracy to commit that very same treason. It's how conspiracy works. That applies equally to GA legislators trying to stop Fani Willis earlier or Speaker of the House Mike Johnson denying Ukraine military aid. This isn't "politics" at work. It's outright CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR for a political purpose. Not the same thing.

Make No Mistake: Vlad Putin Just Won The Cold WarI'm old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan - once the patron saint of the GOP - demanded that Russia tear down its wall in Berlin. And then, by various means , many of them pure smoke and mirrors, Reagan managed to drive the Soviet Union out of business. We celebrated the end of the Cold War back then. But, it wasn't actually over.https://howtolivebullshit-free.com/2024/11/07/make-no-mistake-vlad-putin-just-won-the-cold-war/
