@mmu_man @ActionRetro @jdmcs How long can a Mac II run off the residual voltage in an old CRT?

@ActionRetro There are high performance low profile cards that only draw the 75W allowed by PCIe. I found a WX 3100 with 4GB for 50€ on eBay. That thing can run Fallout 4 just fine and is perfectly happy with just PCIe power. Putting one of those into a Mac Pro seems much more reasonable for actual use (not that I want to complain about your videos, but some people like non-jank).

@ActionRetro It would be really great to have tools and resources to actually use devices like this, maybe a bit newer. I have a late 09 MacBook sitting here, and it's 90% workable, but gets just a bit too hot to use without turning it into a furnace. I thought about replacing the internals with an RPi, but that seems pretty involved and I have no idea how to attach these ribbon connectors for display and input.

@ActionRetro Can we have a video on how to make old-ish machines actually useful for everyday use? I don't expect an Apple II to be a daily driver, but a G5 should be able to get a lot of things done.

@wolf480pl @Kierkegaanks @arstechnica And who would in turn benefit from billions of tax money being funnelled into oversightless Mars projects?

@darix @geerlingguy That's why you should have some sort of "work in progress" flag/tag/state. There's a difference between an issue being worked on without being updated and an issue being ignored/not worked on. Ideally, you'd put the issue id in the commit message, so it's clear what's going on. But I have to admit, splitting discussing an issue and working on an issue into two different places is not ideal.

@musicmatze @Hemera Writing code for the dumpster of history is kind of our burden, though. My last ticket in my previous job was to rewrite/migrate code that I wrote years earlier as pretty much my first task there.
