@clacke@grainloom Assume a radical commitment to freedom and accessibility. Call it Software Anarchism. Support the 4 Opens with open source and open data being specifically relevant. Forget the tech for a second. What does that look like socially? How do we build that under capitalism?I think we have the tools already to do it, but we're not having conversations about labor and money yet in a way that leads to action

@eryn#WalkAway is great and 😍 documentationMy focus is social technology, which tries to answer the question, "What kind of human interaction is going to happen around this technology?" I focus on games because that's how people learn and because simulations can provide social and economic insights that can't normally be attained ethically or otherwise@xj9@social.sunshinegardens.org @grainloom @clacke @woozle

@eryn @grainloom @clacke @woozleI'm excited about #ValueFlows, which @bhaugen has been promoting, because it has the potential to link our islands of nearly self-sufficient communities and produce robust systems that allow for specializationUltimately, various coop forms should be able to have free will associations with one another rather than a forced choice between isolation and exploitation

@woozleNice work, coopting the franchise concept. Let me know if there's something I can do to pitch in. I have a really diverse tech, volunteer, and community management background and a little experience in small businessIt's also been mentioned that there's a need for personal business networking on the fedi. Something between value flows and the current ad hoc associations@bhaugen @eryn @grainloom @clacke @lynnfoster

@grainloomThis is a great idea! There are doc packages, but apart from iTunes, providing non-executable media through a package manager hasn't gotten much tractionEven without considering game mods and fan fiction, the creative space between novels and games is filled with subgenres that create a rather smooth gradient. A package manager would be a great presentation for that

Standards proposal - HTML6. It's just HTML5, but all body elements except for div are deprecated because nobody wants to remember the difference between block and inline tags and because spans are garbage. Style a div for everythingPros - Already recognized by modern browsers. Reflects current practiceCons - Already recognized by modern browsers. Reflects current practice

@a_breakin_glassFailure to use semantic markup and use it semantically can't be solved by making syntax stricter or changing the tags available. The entire SGML family is a lost causeIf you kick the money out of the process then introduce a semantic markup with a lightweight syntax, you have a chance of reducing the variance between meaning and presentation. If you leave publishers power in the process or make the markup less accessible, nothing gets better

I never bookmark anything. I just leave tabs openI found this one just now:https://speakerdeck.com/mikorizal/10-nrp-value-equation-concepts-and-tutorialValue flows is an economic modeling vocabulary. While not created to have a socialist bias, accurate means of mapping economic systems is of benefit to the revolution 😎

@emacsenTwo thingsFirst, that keyboard didn't have the 🖕 emojiSecond, webfinger, social capital, and identity based on infrastructure are part of a culture where developers, imo, aren't doing enough to resist capture by capital@librelounge

@emacsenThere's a whole lot of Mastodon meta there with Eugen being preoccupied with social capital and involved with a couple companies that are quite ethical by capitalist standards, but very much cut from that cloth. Pull requests for accessibility features are already a battlefield, with contributors running interference for Eugen by demanding documentation for the requirements, and, umm, no. That's not actually a reasonable request

@emacsenWebfinger anchors personal identifiers to the namespace of http schema, publishing patterns, and accompanying power dynamics. So, for me, when ActivityPub implementations can turn off webfinger, it'll be a watershed moment where decisions made in Mastodon development no longer represent attack vectors into the Fediverse as a whole

@clackeOh, gods. If anyone cared, "...then Zap probably isn't for you," would be a memeIf you don't like whiny, opinionated tech bros...If you think libertarianism is nonsense...ActivityPub has issues and the specific implementations we have, even more so, but the community is here and here for reasons. Nobody can design a useful service structure for the community without understanding that or successfully promote one without demonstrating that understanding

@clacke@cj@mastodon.technology@heluechtI don't feel attacked. I see aggression and chest beating from that direction in ActivityPub venues occasionally. He's very good at being intolerable in socially tolerated waysI've been in groups where consensus building isn't possible because of egos like that. Sat through 9 years of it once before building the damn thing myselfSkipping the 9 years sitting through it, this time. Too old for that
