It's interesting that Bluesky sends you to a Google login page to apply for verification if you're "notable," whatever that means. It's not quantified in this blog post: https://bsky.social/about/blog/04-21-2025-verification #Bluesky

"When developers are allowed to use AI tools, they take 19% longer to complete issues—a significant slowdown that goes against developer beliefs and expert forecasts. This gap between perception and reality is striking: developers expected AI to speed them up by 24%, and even after experiencing the slowdown, they still believed AI had sped them up by 20%."METR: Measuring the Impact of Early-2025 AI on Experienced Open-Source Developer Productivity https://metr.org/blog/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-os-dev-study/ More:Reuters: AI slows down some experienced software developers, study finds https://www.reuters.com/business/ai-slows-down-some-experienced-software-developers-study-finds-2025-07-10/ @Reuters #AI #opensource

AI investments and Microsoft's CEO salaries are far more important than the value of your entire life. "That's 27,000 million dollars, or roughly 0.39 Blizzard acquisitions. If we take Glassdoor's median average game developer salary of $81,000 a year at face value, that's enough to pay the salaries of 335,802 developers for a year.""As for the entire fiscal year, Microsoft had a net income of $101.8 billion, an increase of 16%."Microsoft "has made, in the past three months, more money than any of its laid-off developers and employees will ever see in their lives. Also, the foxes will be guarding the hen house:BBC: "The plan states that Hamas will have no future role in Gaza, which will be governed by a temporary transitional body of Palestinian technocrats - supervised by a 'Board of Peace' headed and chaired by Donald Trump and involving former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair."

@stux There are two types of AI. - The AI models that have been running for years, dedicated to science, medicine, and genetics. These have helped personalize medical prescriptions and advance medicine, but we still have a long list of diseases, plus new ones, that haven't benefited from this AI work. It's still a win, nevertheless.- The new commercial AI bots that encompass the second part of your post and are wreaking havoc among young people and creating mass addiction. I'm still waiting for the positive effects.
