American slavery of Africans before the civil war was about importing people so they could be sold at auction and the offspring would remain property of the buyer like cattle. the current influx of say Somalis into Minnesota is more about tax fraud and voter fraud. I don't think anyone expects cheap labor out of those people.

OK. I live close to the Mexican border and all the illegal immigrants I've met here came to work, yes, but they came on their own accord to send money back home, they were not shipped here by some corporation nor did they come for government hand outs. and the work they do is cheap, but most Americans don't wanna do it, like picking produce. I just don't believe an individual should need permission from the state in order to move somewhere for better economic opportunity
