Met a seven year old boy today who kept calling a classmate his girlfriend, talked about kissing girls, repeatedly said 'my nuts are big', made rude gestures with his pelvis, all part of a general stream of potty talk and bouncing off the walls. 40 minutes straight. I had no helper.This is the most extreme behaviour I've met in five years of teaching, at least this young.Is it porn? Sexual abuse? Scary.

Where we're at:I'm sent to help with a class of grade 4s doing math. Their regular teacher is pulling random names and asking those kids to name the 4 operations in math (add, subtract, multiply, division). Some are confident, some struggle. Teacher decides to ask every single kid. Even though they all heard the answers over and over again, about one third of the class did not have the working memory to list the four operations.(My sense is that they did know the four operations and would recognize them in a math question. The problem was organizing the information into a list - most students said three and then named one a second time because they had already forgotten what they'd said.)

I was in an awkward position where someone with power over me was expressing dismay at a teacher decorating with a Harry Potter theme even though the author was 'evil'. I said, "Harry Potter made a big difference in getting kids to read but there's other books."Not a lie, but I feel unclean.I have run into a few teachers who are really leaning into Harry Potter themed classroom decor. Teachers are not allowed to criticize another teacher's practice.Harry Potter is not outright banned. So there's like a silent battle between the loud-and-proud Potterites and the disapproving trans-allies. I hope a few of them are secret TERFs, but it's possible they are just not online very much and don't know you're supposed to not like JKR any more.

They will have to act as this person and answer questions ad lib, in late January.Pretty strong gender divide, all boys picked males and all girls picked females, with two exceptions.Autistic boy picked Cleopatra when told he couldn't choose Ironman.One girl picked Jazz Jennings (after looking through a book of 'rad girls').I wanted to tell her the book put quite a rosy spin on a very troubled person's life, but didn't.

Reason #759 I don't trust other people.I'm driving and I watch another car speed in out and of traffic, committing several other minor infractions. Catch up to the car(no passengers in the car, just male driver) at the red light, and the car proudly advertises that it's an award-winning driving school.

My grandma went to a day program for seniors with dementia. She said she liked the women but the men were very lewd.I looked up inappropriate sexual behaviour in dementia patients and every single article used the blanket term 'people' but I'm pretty sure it's almost exclusively men who exhibit these behaviours.
