I liked form.css - the bare essentials for forms that look reasonably decent. Other CSS toolkits I tried did more than I was looking for. https://form.js.org/docs/1.0/what-is-form/

Working on a project management tool for my open source projects. Works offline, binds to 127.0.0.1, and has only two primary runtime dependencies (Ruby, and SQLite3). There's a CLI tool that controls bringing the web server online / offline. Early days, but already it is helpful.

Ruby v3.3.0 released. I created a (free|hardened)bsd port to install it: https://github.com/0x1eef/ports/tree/main/freebsd/lang/ruby33-std

On a recent OpenBSD snapshot, a Ruby project runs into an msyscall error. In one scenario it stops the script, in another the script continues working despite the error. I haven't been able to isolate it, but might be related to spawning a new process.

@stefano I agree. I am working on a web application that I want to be easy to use, and easy to install. It was a bit diffilcult to rely solely on the filesystem, so I settled on SQLite3.

I happen to be in Santiago, Chile. I went to the mosque to pray at an irregular time, and it was closed. I was surprised, but then my wife mentioned how people are hostile towards Islam since Oct 7, and it made some sense. It made total sense after reading this article.https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/31/outraged-brazilian-muslims-face-growing-islamophobia-over-gaza-war

Twitter/X has become even more weird. At least for guests, tweets are no longer sorted by date but another set of criteria (maybe popularity? Hard to say at a glance).

I have been studying color theory and other design concepts lately. TBH I find it challenging, probably doesn't help that I'm color blind, but starting to apply what I've learnt to a few of my websites.

I'm working on combining the Ruby built-in web server webrick with graphql-ruby, and serving the frontend as assets compiled by the static site compiler nanoc. It's something I'd like to be able to easily reproduce for future projects.

I replaced the byte count with a progess bar in the same style as pkg_add(1) from OpenBSD. 😎

@stefano FediMeteo is much faster for me. Both mastodon.bsd.cafe and git.hardenedbsd.org are slow as snails, here in Brazil.

Today I learned that uname.c on #FreeBSD is a light wrapper around sysctl nodes. For example, uname -r is equal to kern.osrelease.https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/blob/main/usr.bin/uname/uname.c
