@mmu_manI have them enabled and travel all over Europe. Only in northern Italy have I received those (a test message as you sign into their cells for the first time after a while, looks like).Other countries might implement them but I've never seen one. Instead they do the silly and expensive one-by-one spam. 🤷Anyway, the way to get this given proper attention is to get in touch with your MP and ask them to raise the issue with your government.@fsfe @RatZillaS

@strypeyMigrating data between services is possible, provided they run on compatible architectures, but currently outside the scope of #XMPP proper and not necessarily straightforward, at least not with #ejabberd + #mnesia.Nevertheless, in a case such as #BlabberIM's I might have sent all-users notifications and provided an out of band migration service / script (I'm not suggesting that #Blabber were under any legal or moral obligation at all to do so).@mattj

@strypey @mattjWith that said, an #XMPP provider, even as a private person *might* in some cases be subject to the #GDPR's data portability requirements (this is a hypothesis, not an assertion) so it would definitely be good for #XMPP to provide that capability.

So the #kDrive app is in #FDroid. Nice to see. This is the way business should be.For the unaware, #kDrive is #Infomaniak's “cloud” storage service, based on #Nextcloud except that it actually works. @bortzmeyerI disagree. The problem is not (necessarily) marketing people. If they're doing their job correctly, they're simply communicating stakeholder requirements (or inferring them from other data).The problem is how those get integrated into the existing product and their impact on existing users and their workflows. I haven't seen many people study that aspect carefully enough.E.g., on occasion it's better to market multiple flavours as different products altogether.

@GinaResurrecting a thread from the dead, I know. I've tried many of the solutions proposed here and for professional project management the only one that comes close is #KDE's #CalligraPlan. Although it does need a significant amount of love, mind. But at least you can create your proper work package structure, assign and track (bugs aside) resources and, importantly, do #PERT scheduling.

It is either trivially easy to attack in a typical implementation (where there exists a plain text copy of the message at rest) or exceedingly inconvenient to be useful outside of a #Snapchat sort of context, and even then.Also, making a living as an independent #FOSS developer is extremely hard.
