There are only about 400 #Gopher servers left in the world in 2026... does it matter? I've just opened a gopherhole for my literary persona. It should be accessible at the address gopher://gopher.princeps-poesis.xyz/

@fionescu glad to see this up and working. the number of gopherholes and gemini capsules is microscopic compared to web, but ive found a lot of good writing and information buried in there. similar to i2p. you don't know until you explore it.

@jae I want to host on I2P too, but I'll need to look into how I could just mirror my existing clearnet sites, if possible. I don't know if that can be very simply done with Nginx or another proxy software, or if I need to use specialized fediverse software, like @mitra who I'm aware are making optimizations for I2P. I'll eventually look into it all. I've had a few attempts at browsing I2P and... well, what can I say about a network which needs to show uptime and downtime like the weather report? People do what they can do.

@fionescu @mitra if a system can bind to a port it can work on i2p. the heavy lifting is done with the daemon/router. for fediverse you can use any software to make i2p only system. there's a few on i2p already. having one fedi system do clean interop on multiple networks i don't think is there yet, even with mitra. ive forked and hacked gts to do this with tor+clear so wouldn't be out of reach to go steps further.

@jae @fionescu Mitra can connect to multiple networks at once, but one of them must be chosen as primary, usually it's clearnet. My instance connects to Tor, I2P and Yggdrasil instances.I am not sure if that counts as clean interop.I think seamless interop without touching clearnet may be achieved with Mitra Mini

@silverpill @fionescu was going to loop you in, but didn't want to disturb what you might have going on.for myself, having primary clear + alt/dark networks that have interop is the goal. clearnet is sort of a must-have for the people one would interact with that aren't into the other networks. i recently stumbled upon the mini version, will take some time to review this. it's been some time since i ran mitra. you're making great progress.
