Dear People Who Know #AI and #ants Look at this article, and look at the photo at the top of it. Under that it says "PC: Google Gemini." What. Thefuck. Does that. Mean.Does this mean that isn't an actual photo of what the article describes? Is this some shitty AI slop where there should 100% be an actual photo?I will investigate but I am prepared to be extremely pissed about this.https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/rest-of-world/hidden-underground-city-built-by-ants-discovered-in-brazil-after-shocking-concrete-test/articleshow/130784246.cms

@guyjantic That is a fake image. Here is the real one it's sensationalizing. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Subterranean-portion-of-a-giant-leafcutter-ant-nest-in-Brazil-Concrete-was-poured-into_fig3_282628837

I think I answered my own question. The link below seems to be to an actual scientific paper published about (I think) this exact thing. The photos look nothing like the image in the Times of India photo.Right now I'm thinking the Times of India can fuck off and die.https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5492053/

@futurebird I figured out the gemini one was fake, and I found images from an article the team published, but this image is way cooler than anything I found :)
