I'm still not at my computer so I'm not easily able to filter my notifications. Just FYI so nobody thinks I'm intentionally ignoring them. Hopefully this cold will be much better tomorrow. So after I got sick I stopped vaping cannabinoids and since I was vaping a lot more than usual lately it might have given me mild withdrawals while sick further complicating my situation. I have a very small selection of pharmaceuticals though. There is no known count to cannabinoid withdrawals so I had to really narrow down what I'm trying to accomplish. Clonidine is both a blood pressure reducing med but also off label used for ADHD. It has sleep inducing effects similar but longer lasting to Benadryl so I decided to try it and I'm pleasantly surprised. I'll probably fall asleep in the next 30 minutes. Benadryl was not an option because I've had it give me nausea before and I didn't want to throw up like last night. Benadryl is stronger to get me to sleep but what often happens is a few hours in I will wake up and not fall back to sleep.Anyways, figured I'd post for "science" since neuroscience used to be my field. Good night frens.

I wish man. The problem happens when my wife starts vaping with me and I vape every time she does. Before then I'm usually giving myself hard rules on how often to vape but socially consuming is often what messes it up for me lol. She suddenly stops but I keep the same rate up until something forces me to stop like getting ill. Thankfully this is a good clean reset though. I'll either stop for a few weeks to months or just have hard limits and be fine.

@Sovereign have you looked into taking GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric-Acid) to induce sleep? It works well when I need to get to sleep when not naturally tired. Sleep induced with GABA is generally deeper too, & helps with mid sleep wake ups. After a 1G sublingual dose, there's a wave of tiredness that comes in about 5-10 mins, if you miss it, & fight it, the opportunity fall sleep quickly might slip away. Only take it if you're really ready.Best of luck to you in recovery.

Nice, 50 mcg (I think it's half of the smallest dose possible) actually let me sleep a full night's rest. I woke up once and fell asleep a minute or two later. I'll consider this a successful test

Clonidine is often used, off label, to treat opioid withdrawal. Lowering of BP and mild sedation is exactly what you need in a withdrawal situation.

I know about the GABA neurochemical pathway. Valerian (stinks though) can help a little. I generally prefer Skullcap over Valerian when it comes to natural botanical sources. If I had legal access it to it I think GHB would be ideal. From what I understand it if contained in tiny amounts in red wines. I believe it has some (very mild and temporary) growth hormone activating effects too when putting you to sleep. From what I've read, some very seasoned psychonauts (users of psychedelics) swear by it to go to sleep after 12 hours on acid or mescaline. Obviously it's criminal use as a tool in rape has given it a horrible collective record.

It isn't ideal and it's definitely something I'm working on improving. I've found working out has lowered my consumption but for many years it has helped me get through some tough times but it is a crutch I would rather not have and that has backfired a few times. It's a form of self medication and the medicine is never a perfect solution. At least I'm being as health conscious about it as possible though.

Imo the most important advantage of orthomaxxing is the fact that the deeper you go the more up and outwards you go. Its like the flip side of Buddhism or any esoteric creed. The process is the same but you eventually end up looking out and up once you reach your inner self. Its totally unexpected. At least that's what my great uncle told me before he died when he quit being a communist and became an orthodox monk.

@8th_Note Although THC withdrawals are very MILD compared to opiate withdrawals, I did know that about Clonidine. I originally got it because it is good for ADHD and since it has adrenaline reducing capabilities, it is a good way to abort other drugs like Adderall if needed for any reason.

@8th_NoteSpecial note on this: I've never been a opiate/opioid addict. I've worked in behavioral crisis centers as a clinician though and I've had some of my best friends be addicts to downers. More than a few people in my life have died from overdoses. I've never been addicted to downers. I've tried them as they were available but I've set the hardest rules for myself on these compounds. They are great for when you have pain but they should not be abused for psychological effects. Just a disclaimer because sometimes people confuse knowledge with assumptions that I must maybe also be a addict for downers. Not.

That's good. Opiates are hell. I was in a car accident at 16 and had to have an operation. The orthopedist sent me home with a giant bottle of hydrocodone with 4 refills and gave no kind of warning to me or my parents. It started an almost 15 year downward spiral that I would not wish on anyone. I am clean now and have been for years (with just a couple of hiccups here and there). But addictions can sneak up on people, especially young people who do not understand the consequences. I am extremely careful about letting my children take any medications and am very honest with the older ones about my struggles.
