@hickory Pre-modded Xbox or PS5 controller with TMR sticks (easily findable on Ebay, most pre-modded PS5 controllers are the exact same price as a normal one), or one with existing TMR. My personal favorites are the recent 8BitDo controllers, their older ones weren't great but the Ultimate 2 and Pro 3 are really solid.

@hickory Also I think I would've ranked the Xbox series controller above 8BitDo's if it just had TMR by default. The Xbox controller feels so damn nice but it's prone to drifting (and has no motion controls but that's a solvable problem thanks to a dumb little dongle thing I love).

@Iffine how's the dpad on each of those 8bitdo controllers + the new xbox controller? The only reason I use the ds4 as my primary is because of how the dpad feels, layout isn't a big deal for me

@hickory All three are nice, clicky and responsive. Xbox one is a soap dish so it might feel weird, but I personally really like it. Makes diagonal inputs super clean. Meanwhile 8BitDo's are more traditional ones with the minimal DPad in the frame, and they've got a tiny bit more squishyness. Not much but enough to dampen the noise at least. Mind I do just like clicky near-instant dpads.

@Iffine I don't mind a clicky dpad, but I hate the xbone's dpad so much that I pretty much wrote off the series x one. Might give it a try in person if I have a chance. From a cursory glance, though, it looks like the pro 3 might be what I'm looking for. I appreciate the help, I didn't want to have a mad catz moment by mistake lol

@hickory The Series controller is such a major course correction from the Xbox One controller's failure of a super squishy and just piss poor feeling. Still, controllers are subjective so it's fair to be cautious. Pro 3 is a good one though, it's enjoyable to use.

@Iffine @hickory I have a Series controller. It's very comfy and nice to use :nature_comfy: Lmao I initially got it to play Forza Horizon 4 because God knows playing a racing game with a keyboard and mouse is hell, and I've since found a lot of uses for it :doge_laugh:

@Ronnie21093 @hickory I would absolutely still be using my Series controller if it weren't for the stick drift problems. :flan_tired: Don't have the tools to mod it and not sure if there's anyone around to mod it for me. Also woo FH4, my favorite game I basically only played for the decals. Ended up enjoying it at least overall but the decals were definitely the main focus.

@Ronnie21093 @hickory Xbox controller drift is a problem they've had since the 360, either you get lucky or your controller starts drifting at some point relatively quicker than they should. FH4 I grabbed when it was $20 for the entire game with all DLC since it was being delisted. Means I could get basically all the cars, except the Final Fantasy car. At least I'd say I got my money's worth.

@Iffine @hickory I got my controller a few years ago and it's still fine. Maybe I just got lucky :thinkinghrr: Also, still no idea what the buttons on the back of the handles are :thinkinghrr:

@Ronnie21093 @hickory If you're talking the weird grip buttons, those are custom buttons. If you have the controller software, you can remap them.

@Kagekokoro @hickory Yeah from all I’ve read from tons of people, it really is just luck. While technically there’s probably actual statistics on it, for all purposes it’s a 50/50. Tons of people say they have it, tons don’t, no real in-between of noticing it come on naturally as the sticks are used.
