Ok, so this emu showed up at my house the other day. We knew it belonged to a neighbor about a mile away. He finally came over a couple hours later, put a sock over its head, tied its legs, and took it back to its pen (he lives on 110 acres).I live directly adjacent to a 42k acre commercial pine forest behind me. Turns out, the emu wandered there, and some logger posted his encounter with it on FB. Hilarious. That fkn thing took a 3 mile stroll, minimum.Who says nothing interesting happens in BumFuck, OK?

Neighbor fren has had all manner of odd things (considering this is rural OK). Emus, ostriches (he recently sold those off), alpacas, cattle, peacocks, donkeys, chickens, etc. etc.

@UnCL3 @feralphilosophernc @KiKi88 we had peacocks growing up. they came with the property. originally there was one male and a few females. it got up to three males and an uncounted number of hens. it was uncounted bc my parents intended to have a hobby farm, and bought the property with barn, pens, and livestock, but were too busy drinking to actually look after the animals. I'm not sure we ever fed them, they roamed freely and foraged. periodically they would get hit by cars, and eventually there were none. their cries sound like a woman screaming. I would get some here, and look after them correctly, but I doubt my neighbors would care for the noise. they're about 10 times as loud as chiggens.
