I have a question for the self-hosted rss music crowd. So I have two releases through Wavlake. I want to go forward self hosting, which I have finally determined how to do. I don’t know if I should simply release self hosted going forward, or take down my previous releases and rerelease self hosted. Either way I have a bit of a problem. If I leave my previous releases up through Wavlake and simply self host my next song, how do I know if it will get out under my artist name already created by Wavlake, or will it create something completely separate from what I have already released? If I take down what I uploaded through Wavlake and self host, do I need to copy the GUID of the previous releases to make sure they do not duplicate the album in podcasting apps? Just some possible problems that crossed my mind while thinking about this.

@fd2ee25fd0ef442aa1b7404a9354b12e554ec0dead81a6c8bdb8cda2ff09373f Wavlake is a central-point of failure, proprietary service. > how do I know if it will get out under my artist name already created by WavlakeYou put your artist name in the ID4 tag in the MP3> or will it create something completely separate will *what* create something ?> ious releases to make sure they do not duplicate the album in podcasting appsYou can't control what apps you aren't in control of do. Ignore them.Just put your mp3 up and put a RSS feed pointing to it. It doesn't have to be complicated.

There are a few artists who started on WL then went DeMu, and they just reuploaded their WL tracks self-hosted. If you want to delete your stuff from WL, that's up to you, but I'd say there's no harm in having songs uploaded in multiple places. DJs and listeners can see where a track was uploaded on LNBeats, V4V Music or by looking at the value splits in the RSS feed. 💜

Uhhh this doesn't sound like alienating artists? Or being biased against WL?!??!

Haha, I love artists but I HATE GayFake. Entering an open ecosystem and building a walled garden is gross. Rugpulling artists is unforgivable.BUT I don't think artists *can* delete their stuff from WL. Even if the mp3s or feeds disappear after a request, once a WL artist, always a WL artist LOL: https://wavlake.com/artists

I guess my main worry was going forward self host, I didnt want to create a duplicate of the artist name, album or tracks in the album. One being from Wavlake and one being from my self hosted feed. I don’t really know how this technically works behind the scenes so I just wanted to know how to prevent that
