I really do have to get a quad or a garden tractor or something to pull carts of heavy stuff. Doing this on pure meat power isn't really all that fun.

@ACL9000 Why are we doing the same thing today haha. I have no electric machinery for cutting trees. Just manual labour.

@whiteman_ Because we're cool. :pepeEZ: I like the chainsawing and the axe splitting a lot more than I like yanking a 600-pound cart that's older than me, with flat tires, and stacking. :peepoGiggle: I want the balance between full manual labor and mechanization, where I get to do the fun part, but ride around on a machine for the boring part.

@Jewpacabra Since taking that photo I completed the second rack and moved a third into place, and loaded it up about 60%. And I filled a trash can with wood shards for kindling. The three racks just about hold enough wood for winter, at the rate I burn it. :cozy:

@stoner713 @Jewpacabra I have accumulated a bunch of Stihl. Got a backpack leaf blower, one of those Kombi things set up as a trimmer, but I want the polesaw and sweeper attachments eventually, and the chainsaw. They're all such happy little tools that never give me any shit — they just work.I run Amsoil Saber at 40:1 in everything.

@ACL9000 @Jewpacabra When I first got my home I had a plug in leaf blower from Sears, fine for my old rental's postage stam lawn. I kept it cause Ima cheep fucker, but it could NOT handle a full yards worth of leaves, and never if they were a bit damp (as it is want to do here in the Deepsouth®. Big orange was the natural choice. The saw? Every loger back home in the PNW mountains of my youth had Stihl...you either worked for Potlatch or the State road crews.

@ACL9000 @Jewpacabra The new battery chain saws are very effective for what looks like amount of sawing you do. No dealing with small engine issues. I've got a gas chain saw for cutting trees, but bought a battery powered pole saw for the trimming I do a few times a year.

@RobCaruso I aim to de-tree a lot of this property, soon. At least everything smaller than 18" wide is a candidate for felling. I've had really great luck with small engines. Except for my 38cc Craftsman saw that was never happy, every 2-stroke runs perfectly, and the only blown-up 4-stroke I have did hard labor under bad conditions for a long time.I like my little electrics too, like the Toro leaf vacuum thing I have. It's a lot more handy than I'd expected.

@ACL9000 It sounds like you do a good job with your engines. They can be difficult to maintain, especially if used infrequently and not stored correctly. The electric are simple, and are good enough for most small property owners, even though they are not the equal of the gas powered.
