Can anyone tell me whether I actually NEED - from a security point of view- to update my iPhone? I have no time to learn new things right now, just want stable software & a phone that works all the time (ha ha, referring to the findings of a Telstra survey a long time ago). This is the bumf that describes the update & I don’t see anything important listed: “ iOS 26 brings a new design, intelligent experiences and improvements to the apps you rely on every day. The new design with Liquid Glass brings a more expressive and seamless experience to your Lock Screen and Home Screen, as well as apps, navigation and controls. Apple Intelligence is integrated into even more places, giving you the ability to learn more about the content on your screen, powering Live Translation features to help you communicate across languages, and unlocking new actions in Shortcuts so you can get more done fast. Updates to Phone and Messages help you stay connected while eliminating distractions like unwanted calls. iOS 26 also brings meaningful enhancements to Camera, Photos, Wallet, CarPlay and so much more.”#AskFedi

@Su_G I’ve been wondering the same. Skeptical that the new OS is gonna work great on my 3 year old iPhone SE

@Su_G > The new design with Liquid GlassI would avoid any update that introduces Liquid Glass to your OS. The grApple exec in charge of bringing it in was ... moved on - with ecstatic reactions from the iThing desire community - so there's a good chance it's toast. From what I've heard, nuking it from orbit is the only way to be sure. I wouldn't let it on board.@joannaholman
