But life got in the way, and I'm back on AMD for now, until I have time to install an OS that I can actually use (the early builds, pre-set user account, root access, were a shitshow when I tried to get it talking to my older systems). Average non-programmer, wasn't ready yet, cause I suck and don't have time. But, yea, there are a lot of things I just go "why would I do that, if there is a choice not to?"

@aa4ed3e0e2c80e52b76e2536bef7990a3f916044dbb4d9165bb3bd5395b56253 @phnt @Coyote Yes, GRUB supports /boot on a flash drive - but that requires additional configuration. Also, for /etc/default/grub with dracut;GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="mitigations=off net.ifnames=0 rd.luks.uuid=<LUKS volume UUID> root=UUID=<internal root partition UUID> rootfstype=ext4 rootflags=rw,noatimeUSB flash drives usually run proprietary software - but updates for that are generally never offered.
