I really wish corporations/society were more understanding that you cannot make someone into a "morning person"."We want you here first thing in the morning!"No, you don't. I'll be grumpy, mean, slow, and disinterested in the aesthetics you want me to reinforce. I'm a programmer, not a barista. Either you don't need me at 6 AM, or you need to pay me overtime because if you NEED me something is very wrong.

Like a huge amount of work arrangements, the 8-5 work day is mostly about making managers/execs feel like big boys watching their toy people march around the office for their amusement. How can they enjoy your cosmetic presence if you have an even slightly different schedule or workplace?
