       @joshbressers The name "the register" itself is enough to stop me reading. They have good journalists no doubt, but some of them couldn't stop writing rage bait. Not worth the effort.

       @ada As a writer for the Register, and proud of my job and my work, this makes me both angry and sad.But then, @joshbressers's entire blog post made me angry and sad, both because he attacked my colleague, and because he conflates the Wild West of Javascript with FOSS.

       @lproven @joshbressers If you don't want to be angry and sad then maybe do something about it?Such as suggesting to your chief editor that there should be a consistent in-house style and stick to the facts?A good piece of journalism is something that the readers click because they are interested, but not because they are confused.

       @ada @joshbressers There is. We do. And as a result it's one of the oldest tech news websites on the internet. Maybe the oldest. I can't think of older myself. I've been reading it since it was an email newsletter in 1996.Still independent, still profitable.Trying to make the site into something else because some people don't like it is not a recipe for success.
