Trump claimed the markets will boom. US stock losses were calculated at more than $US3 trillion on a single day trading. Someone fucked up hahaha 🤣

@thebitchisback Question -Hypothetically, if Blackrock/Soros types took their money and sold off some stock to instigate a market crash in retaliation to Tariffs (which affect the exports and prices of the goods sold by the companies they hold), who has the most stamina to resist caving?1) US govt while the population is under the Trump Spell2) Blackrock/Soros, who keep having to buy back the holdings they shorted to maintain ownership stakes, even though those stakes are worth less?3) Publicly traded corporate america, whose stock prices are taking a hit.4) Sovereign nations imposing crazy tariffs that the US govt wants to have disappear? This is great, I hope the pressure keeps up for 2 to 3 months. This is a fascinating lesson in macroeconomics.

@Waerloga 1) Trump has hidden the word tariff for what it really is, a 10% consumption tax. No one wants to hear those words, yet tariff talk gets people excited; the unknowingly aware that is. All the small businesses that can and will be eaten up while Trump hits the gold gilded gates of Mar A Lago for a game of gold, while people are standing down an empty cupboard of food isn't comparable with what's to come yet. China retaliating was a smart move. Watch the scramble to attain more ports, that's next.

@Waerloga I used 10% that reflects the smallest tariff slaps, globally. I'm not even interested in how much the tariffs are, I'm more interested to see if he takes it a step further and tries to swap out talk of personal income tax removal and replaces the tariff raised money to offset paying for it. He talked it up and touted the idea. Tariffs can't afford to pay for it. It's impossible, maths wise.

@thebitchisback I, for one, would love to see it work. The idea of no personal income tax and the government revenue coming from other sources would be great. Not sure about Oz, but income tax is relatively new to Canada. It was started to fund world war 2 efforts and was never reversed.I like the idea of free trade in principle and loathe the idea of tariffs as a protectionist issue. But I really want this to play out on difficulty level: hard for 3 months, because I have the sneaking suspicion that those who produce but don't have a bunch of free capital (liquid) floating around will capitulate and drop their tariffs first, while the cash/credit cows will last the longest because they will be able to buy what they need even if the tariffs are in place.Fun time to be alive!

@Waerloga personal income tax then turns to commercial taxes and corporate taxes missing out. Mathematically it can't work. Tariffs at even 70% or higher couldn't replace personal income tax revenue. 98% of personal income tax is paid by the top income earners, being about 50% the other 2% is the middle and lower income earners making up the other 50%Who is affected more, everyday voters. Cost of living doesn't reflect real wage growth when it's about to hit stagnant rates hahaha Who's paying more consumption tax, is the middle and lower income earners, not the rich. Calling it tariffs anymore is absurd haha

@Waerloga inflation rises, so do interest rates. Core inflation and the separation of politics from interest rates decisions takes a lot more into account when playing survival mode in a selfish protectionist environment. Stagnant real wage growth smashes volatility when tipping the scales to cut rates, or wait for inflation to go down. A lot of people draw down on the market value of homes to refinance. Trying to get a 30y loan on a buy to build just got a whole lot more expensive and in uncharted territory 😂

@Waerloga the scramble to attain more ports is essential to making a move against China. Suez canal being the largest 🤣 Greenland can be turned into a larger port and military installation. All out trade war gets fiesty once rare minerals come into question. The US relies on outside help to fill that gap hahaha 🤣
