my support of Rojava is critical support, with my main criticisms being the cult of personality around Öcalan and the dangers of nationalism and hierarchisation. my support of EZLN is critical for the same reasons.of the two, I simpathise with the EZLN more because the leader figure is stated to be explicitly a fiction, has done a better job of undermining his own authority at least in theory, and generally has a theory that is more acommodating of different modes of governance. the Zapatistas I talked to are more like, "this is what worked for us, you do your thing"—a world that contains many worlds. my Apoist friends are more like, Rêber Apo's Democratic Confederalism is *the* one solution for the world.in both cases I maintain support because I've witnessed resistance to authoritarian tendencies within the movement itself. in both cases I am unambiguously and materially supportive of their armed resistance to nearby powers, which is 100% justified.participants of either revolution can counter my criticisms by pointing that it's easy for me to maintain ideological purity when I still participate in and benefit from my privileges in the capitalist system, while they're, like, at least actually fighting, building, trying; and they're correct.
