How can you add midi output (or sound output from a synth) into microphone input channel so people can hear it in voice chat applications?

@INSTALLGENTOO I think you can use a patchbay with jack or pipewire to do that

Not play audio file or audio stream, but take output from Serum and put it inline with the microphone. Can voice chat applications accept second audio device input? I guess the ghetto way of doing it is to play it on a speaker next to your mic.6fe82ae30c1d8b4b79d0b24710ecbd7761449b7eee937b0e4e52eed38c3c8128.jpg

@Komnene I remember using jack a while back, it was pretty confusing and it could mess up with the microphone input (where the mic and even the speaker output for headphones doesn't work). Patchbay sounds like something you need if you have external synth from the computer, Is that needed if it's from a VST on the same computer.

@Komnene I think I saw enough about patchbays. a proper daw does all of that kind of stuff, but it only does it within the daw. I've only really output a recording of a sound into a file for export, don't know if you can put the raw stream into Jack or pipewire software. It does by default output the synth sound into speaker output, I think it just needs to be duplicated and input into the microphone line (so you can hear it on the speakers and they can hear it on the microphone output at same time.). idk how to do any of that.

@INSTALLGENTOO You can use the raw stream from a program with the patchbay For example with helvum you just need to drag the output into the capture and whatever program uses that microphone will hear it

@INSTALLGENTOO Or I guess you can feed it directly to the input

@INSTALLGENTOO It used to mean that the stream is open but isn't transmitting audio like if you pause a video, they might have changed the UI since the last time I've used it
