I always use Brazil instead of California as the an indicator of what America will become. Favelas, carjacking, ATM robberies, and the transition from beat cops to private security retained by big stores and companies and wealthy families and gated enclaved. Bom dia! Como vai? Brazil is America's brother, Western European nations are only cousins. America has more in common with Russia than it does with France, Germany, or even the UK.

@chris Private security is preferable over unaccountable government police.

@janagyjrBut only Big Corp and Rich Bastards with be able to afford that. Small Business and Modest Homes: I guess we can do all the policing with our private guns? I'm already doing that. So, all's well with me. Phew. I'm sorted. I'm my own private security! I'm my own grandpa!

@chris I mean, in the end you are responsible for your own safety. No one, and I mean no one, is obligated to provide you with anything. And small businesses and people with modest homes can afford private security, too. Even if they group together and pool resources to do it.

@janagyjrI guess things will only change when it's legal again to shoot people in the face based on the escalation instead of saying dumb shit like "it was only running a stop sign" without saying all the other stuff that escalated everything to deadly force. They never supports the narrative. Escalation kills, it's never the initial infraction. Maybe we can hire Wagner mercs to protect our city streets? Blackwater?

@chris talk about escalation. Reductio ad absurdem much? You mean the same escalation police engage in - and get away with - right now? Puh-lease. When you're ready to be serious, you know where to find me.

@janagyjrOne's only job when around coppers is to prevent escalation and comply. There are no judges or lawyers or laws in the street. One's only job when engaging with law enforcement is not incriminating yourself, not escalating, and not squaring up, mouthing off, or fleeing. And I'm a college educated white guy. It's everyone's rules. Otherwise, beat to fuck, additional charges, or shot in face. That's how society keeps the streets safe for all. Stomping antisocial behavior. Right?
