Just noting about this Starlink thing - we talk about it as if it's news now. It is not. We knew about this last February. Elon himself even confirmed it then. Not one thing has changed about it since. He was pissy about not getting paid "enough" for it, scared that his investments in China were at risk if he soured putin, and decided to overrule US government policy. None of this is news today. What will be done about it?

@osma Exactly. I have also been puzzled that Elon Musk capping Starlink for Ukraine is being treated as breaking news. It was a known problem that as far as I know has been fixed, so it can’t happen again.

@anderspuck Has it been fixed? Not to my knowledge.- they sold terminals with consumer pricing to market themselves- then started demanding some higher price class without a contract- shut off service to extract the money from Pentagon- Elon caved to Twitter pressure just as Shotwell was about to get that deal (she was NOT HAPPY)- geoblocked beyond front lines, including Black Sea- something something something, don't know if it was resolvedDoes Pentagon have control now?

@osma My understanding is that Pentagon is in control now. That it was fixed in the arrangement that came in place after this thing happened. I believe it is part of the deal that got a bit of attention in the beginning of the summer.

@anderspuck @osma As I recall it, #Starlink sold (for a fantasy price) a number of terminals that are “excluded from Musk-interference” to the #Pentagon. Who donated them to #Ukraine. More tax dollars for #Musk, who doesn’t have a concern for world peace except for when it helps extortion.
