@artcollisions No, quite the opposite -- because people only post when they actively do something, they don't post very *frequently*; at most, once a dayThat means that even if I follow a lot of folks, the feed never gets very busyI might ignore it for a few days, then check in to see what people have been doing and hit the "kudos" button on their adventures and look at their picturesVery chill really

@clive heh … I once had a person I had never met liking every one of my activities the moment it posted, reflexively. They followed me and had alerts on or something, and when the alert popped up, they clicked.I took a very short run and called it "_____ why do you like every run I take?" and got their attention.

@clive Interesting. I had a co-worker who is massively into bicycling. I am fairly seriously into bicycling. He is much faster than me. He was always on Strava, getting "king of the hill" for various segments. That caused me to AVOID Strava. I did not want to be the absolute worst in the list!

@clive some of us call it Grindr for bike racers. It's had terrible privacy issues because of its very nature but they have worked to reduce the risk.

@clive I just rediscovered Strava and also realized the same wholesome vibes. It’s so great to see friends getting fit and exploring the world; many of them share photos so is like a BeReal/Instagram alternative. @artcollisions If you log onto Strava on the web, like on your laptop browser, you can go to your little icon in the upper-right corner ... hover over that, and a little menu pops up, and one of the options is "My profile" Click on that, the URL will include your numberIt's *clunky* but that's how I found mine 😂

@clive they had a neat feature that allowed you to play back your ride and see everyone else out riding at the same time whose rides intersected yours, and go check out their profiles and see where they usually rode: it's like a gift to a potential stalker. It's totally fun for normal people though. Like I wish it were safe to still do that.

@clive @nosrednayduj I am slow as a snail compared to others and will never compete with those people, but I primarily compete with myself. It always feels good to set a PR. (Or just to log a nice but completely not spectacular ride that adds up to my own yearly goal)

Do they still do that??I know that, in response to concerns about privacy in their early years, they began fuzzing the "start" and "end" locations ... i.e. so a static map of one's voyage would not show precisely where one started or ended
