i beg to differ, friend. you do not forgive people for their sake, but for yours. so you do not have to carry around the anger that their actions caused. it does not mean that what they did to you was okay or that you mend the relationship you had, or that they are entitled to your affections, it simply means you are choosing to heal. you are stepping over the pain their inadequacies caused you because you are strong and moving on with your life. you forgive people so you can cut your losses and be free of the hatred that ties you to the people that hurt you.but it is important for you to know that your forgiveness can not and will not heal her. you do not need to tell her that you forgive her because your forgiveness will not matter to her (even if she were to say it would). you are right to enforce the boundaries you have set because that is part of the healing process.i'm sorry if this comes across as being lecturing but given my own experiences with this sort of thing it's something i know a thing or two about.

@flux I have heard this before. I must disagree with it.When someone is in the world doing evil, it should feel wrong to let them continue doing evil. You should feel compelled to stop it. This seems obvious enough to me that it does not demand or permit argument.You forgive evil when it is vanquished - either by the death of the evil person, or by the evil person renouncing their ways. Evil people who continue to do evil should not be forgiven.
