       @internetarchiveCanadian "fair dealing", and book publishers may loathe what I do, but they can't stop it. (Though admittedly, I can't really share what I've done with others at any scale. That _would_ be illegal.)It's gonna take a while to count the entries in my personal library… and after 5 minutes: 344,872 books.The idea I had was to build a "forever library": one that can bootstrap civilization to the point of being able to read, and eventually reproduce it in its entirety.@mmasnick

       @internetarchive @mmasnick I'm really tired of how much Tech Dirt perpetuates the hypocrisy of the Internet Archive. Brewster Kahlo made millions selling his technology to "create" the Internet--and yet doesn't think that book authors (and the companies that published them) have a right to be paid for what they create through e-book licenses.  Then IA then has the audacity to charge real libraries for digitizing books the library actually purchased. For shame...
