       What do you prefer: Fediverse or fediverse?You might say it's a proper noun that refers to this specific community that we’re all using to communicate, and thus it should be capitalized. Or maybe you think that this argument is technically true for ‘internet’, and we all mostly don’t bother with capitalization for that either.

       @fediversereport I like to think that "Fediverse" follows the same capitalisation rules as "Internet". Both are proper nouns which refer to a inter-network of some sort.and as with "internet", people write "fediverse" in casual correspondence. that's not to say fedizens (fediverse netizens) believe "fediverse" is lower case, the same way irc users commonly write in lowercase all the time, but they know it's really "IRC", not "irc.fwiw, I made the Wiktionary entry for "Fediverse".https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/FediverseBut honestly, my mind's not set in stone on this.

       @fediversereport I capitalise it simply because other federated protocols exist, such as XMPP and Matrix. The 'Fediverse' is a specific place in the same way I prefer to capitalise 'Internet,' since it specifically refers to the WWW or 'clearweb'.
