One day my lawyer will fire me as a client.I asked for a one sentence, no legal terms, human readable, not legally binding summary of every paragraph for TOS to publish side by side.Something like „you do not pay, you do not get updates“.He showed me a draft for the first three paragraphs and wasn’t too happy about my question if I have to show him what this mythical being called a human without law background is and what they consider simple, human readable speech.

@fallenhitokiri honestly it sounds like what would be better is to draft the TOS companion yourself or someone else to do it. Then get the lawyer to review it. Legalese and legal language exists for a reason, it's the currently existing code for that domain of work. Just gauging from your message alone it seems like you are asking them to do something they don't usually do. Maybe save you some money as well

@morganm fair point, but no one on our end got the time and the best option for us right now is to solve this problem by spending money. When we talked about scope my lawyer was comfortable taking it on instead of bringing in a third party.(And as we know each other for over 20 years privately and professionally I’m not paying regular rates anyway. Advantage of her owning the office)

@fallenhitokiri @morganm People here seem to have some bad experiences with lawyers 😉My own experience has always been that once I’d found the right lawyer to work with on the issue (which seems to be the case), and gotten them to understand the task (also apparently done), then it’s just a matter of iterating until the desired result is achieved
