Notes for non -NB writers writing NB characters.1. don't do the scene where they trade pronouns with someone its terrible writing. Instead have someone who already should know say it first and everyone just quietly picks it up from context.2. Resist the impulse to use they/them by default without considering what the character would actually like. I would highly encourage not using them/them at all its overdone. Remember pronouns are a WAY better platform to express characterization than what "labels" they adopt.3. Unless their AGAB is NECESSARY for the plot do not disclose it. Do not hint at it leave their deadnames DEAD.

@Rasp Hmm, gonna sound a bit ignorant here but what does "graduated" mean in this context?

@mdstevens0612 Threw off the identity due to disagreements with the adoption of They/Them as the accepted default pronouns.I was pretty damn militant we shouldn't have a default accepted pronoun but what can ya do?

@mdstevens0612 My own therapist had in her chart my pronouns were they/them not because anyone asked me and put it there but because I identified as NB when I was put through intake. It was just ASSUMED because in peoples minds Enby = they/them pronouns and I was one of the only voices loudly countering that narrative.

@Rasp I’m currently writing a student film in which the main character is trans and I’m trying to work out all the details for that, it’s quite difficult.I have to essentially walk a line between creating a story that is relatable for a trans audience while being understandable enough to a cis audience and crew.

@immychan I'd not worry to hard about either of these things. You're making it too hard for yourself in a way that might be actively doing a disservice your narrative.Being trans is part of the character but its only a fraction of who they are as a character. If you're having trouble I'm open to consulting but it sounds like you're being way to rigid in your thinking.
