It's hard listening to ex-mil guys sit here and brag about all our superb weapon systems like total cocks. Was just burning time with one earlier and he was just so damn smarmy it made me realize these interactions are actually negatively impacting my empathy for vets as a whole, I just keep hearing them sit there and act like they're pulling triggers and slaughtering ten thousand russkies a month. It's like they've forgotten everything pre-2022, all their beliefs, their experiences, their disappointment in the system, all that is gone - replaced by "Oh man can you imagine an abrams goin up against a T-62 those fuckers would get owned. I tweet stuff in russian just to fuck with 'em like I'll go and say like "*You're all gonna die youd better start running russian NAZIS*" it's pretty awesome, it's like watching a bunch of clowns out there." I brought up his own record, like his recent 20-year boondoggle and he basically said that the US won in the end because there was nothing there to win to begin with, so leaving in a rush was a victory, after all. I dunno, it's just leaving a bad taste in my mouth, this is like, the 3rd time this month. These fats forgot all about the war until they see these headlines about grand ukie victories taking them all the way to moscow. One said putin needs to be deposed and tried before an international court (hahah), like....come on. Where's the humility? And these are older guys, ones who didn't go into the sandbox, I think the lowest rank was a Major in the air force, so you can imagine his experience was QUITE far removed from the average marine's in 2008.

@Nirty_Digger It's been weird, i'm pretty sure two of these guys were more even 6 months ago. I'm pretty measured with where I stand on all this, and most mirror that when they talk about it, but out of nowhere they're bragging about hellfires, and javelins, and MLRS just annihilating every last russian before ukraine pushes all the way in and takes half the country. It's weird. I think there's something dangerous about aging poorly. These guys are fat and prematurely aging from utter sedentatiousness, I'm thinking they're losing testosterone and becoming much more agreeable and estrogeneous (i.e womanly in the way they think/act/socialize)

They take guys you would expect to be hard right veterans, preferably combat arms, and they push them through a paid undergraduate/masters at a prestigious school, where they have a special center for them to meet with "mentors." These mentors, of course, push neoliberal garbage views on them. The smart ones play the game to get the free money at the end, the dumb ones simply buy the propaganda, and the obstinate ones are pushed out and black marked as "failing to adapt to civilian life."So you've got a bunch of guys with combat experience who would normally form the vanguard of any domestic unrest now totally bought into the system. They run t-shirt stores, coffee companies, "charities" that are mostly banquets full of people sucking their dicks for their service and "giving back," etc. And they go on places like Twitter, with their resumes right their in their bios, and they say this shit. It becomes the Standard Veteran Viewpoint, and the stupid ones who didn't go through finishing school parrot it, because that's what the big name VetBros are saying, so that's the Veteran Thing To Do. It's very gay, very controlled, and reeks of someone who read Manufacturing Consent and took very good notes.
