you could continue with the self hosting route and run your own asterisk trunk with SIP and port your existing number over. ask the datacenter if they provide telephony jizz too, they likely do.

@josh I wouldn't announce whatever company you go with but U.S. has laws specifically for telecom companies because the fear of Mother Bell looking over our phone conversations was very real when the break up happened.

@josh If you are not locked out of GV you should be able to port your number out to TMO, or a sip provider like callcentric.com or anveo.com.support.google.com/voice/answer/1065667The porting takes time. If you need a number right now callcentric/anveo will let you spin up a new number instantly in any name you type in if you can get through their paypal checkout system.
