People conflate being NB to using they/them pronouns.Don't do this as I WILL come down on you for it.I hate being this person but nobody else says anything.

@Rasp I think it's less of confusing or combining, but rather having it as an easy default if you don't outright say your pronouns. That's usually what I go for personally, anyways

@Rasp There's the sort of Venn diagram of "people who use they/them pronouns" and "people who are non-binary" and while there's a great overlap, it is far from 1:1.

@Rasp it's why the debate bros attending the conversation around pronouns are so tiring.Standing there screaming, 'I won't use they/them!!', 🙄when that pairing has been used for centuries already... meanwhile, there are all kinds of other pronouns that the mainstream can't seem to advance itself to talk about, so that those who are interested in doing right by other genders, can learn which pronouns are actually correct to use in various contexts.

@IridisSparks what's correct is what I choose. Or you can just not use anything. These are both perfectly valid options.

@IridisSparks Like MFers make it more complicated than it is. All I want is for people to use my correct pronouns or use my name, both are perfectly acceptable options.I'm not asking for anyone to learn all the pronouns that could possibly exist and how to use em.

@IridisSparks My issue is with assholes who are like... "you are NB so I use They/Them regardless of anything else you tell me."That's what people default to and I HATE it. Apparently I don't get to pick the pronouns I like no... I get they/them foisted on me because 'I'm NB and that's what NB people like.'It's exhausting.

@Rasp I mean if you supplement an alternative, and then they refuse to use it afterwards that's one thing. But if you never specify, then unfortunately that's just how modern English kind of works and there's not much that can really be done about that

@Rasp I'm not saying you don't. I'm just saying it's an unfortunate truth of modern day language

@Temmie19 I wrote a whole novel where a major character never used any pronouns at all. it's not that hard. people are just lazy.

@Rasp I feel like that's a bit of a cherry pick since it could either be entirely in first person, or just be referred to by name with the narrator. While you can refer to someone entirely just by name, which I have done in person before at request, it makes the language sound clunky and awkward and not fit quite right. Not saying I wouldn't personally do it if someone wanted that, but I do know most people won't push themselves too far out of their own comfort zones

@Temmie19 it was a first person narrative but not by the character in question. I've also done it in person and I've had no difficulty at all making it sound natural. I'm not sure what everyone elses issue is.
