@RustyCrab I'd say most of mainstream social media is flooded with bots and usually it's cheaper for an advertiser to pay some shady russian to make 5000 accounts and spam their product than pay the company for ad placement

People pay for followers, likes, retweets, it's almost entirely fake.Most bots are almost completely benign. People automatically think bots are the people you interact with and talk to. Those are mostly just retarded people. Actually the overwhelming majority of bots don't interact with users that at all except on a meta level.

@D00B @RustyCrab If it's that high, Twitter is done. They can't survive this acquisition process (it'll be a tacit admission to shareholders that something is wrong with the user numbers), and if there's a LOI (Letter of Intent), even if non-binding, Elon can sue for his out of pocket costs for engaging in the process for Twitter's failure to disclose. He could bring those facts out in that trial if Twitter fights him.

@Humpleupagus @D00B @GasBag yeah so I specifically remember CNN videos having like 100 views per video maybe a year ago until youtube started turning on mandatory "up next" autoplay. Guess who started getting hundreds of thousands of views and guess who also randomly started playing on my device a weird number of times unless I actively canceled out of YouTube after a video was done.
