Hey #fediverse, any civil servants around?Whenever I am interfacing with an official institution via e-mail, especially when I notice there is some form of automatic issue tracking based on e-mails, I am in a pickle if I should send a "thank you" e-mail after I get my answers. On one hand, I want to be nice and appreciative. On the other, I recognize another e-mail might mean another "open issue" that needs to be dealt with by potentially overworked staff. What do people think?

@rysiek if it tracks the issue (reply adds comments instead of opening issues every time) I send a thank you. Also if the person was really helpful you can send a paper "thank you for resolving the issue quickly and professionally" letter addressed to that person, in most institutions that would be easier to use when talking about a bonus/raise than an e-mail. Unless they have a specified feedback process.
