The rebels wouldn't have to fight an optics war, good optics would come from total victory, and bad from defeat.

It's why the Chinese conceive of the Jesuits bringing Euclid and Astronomy (the Chinese actually had Greek Astronomy since the days of Euclid himself, they'd been receiving it piece-meal for centuries; what they found novel was the mathematical calculations and celestial modelling, the actual systems themselves were trite at that point) as a demonstration of Chinese greatness and Western weakness: if the West is so great, why did it bring its secrets to China? The Chinese don't conceive of themselves racially, but culturally. They CAN'T be ethnonationalists. Don't take my word for it, go ask all of the anti-Qing terrorists who, when asked for their ethnicity, said that they were "Subjects of the Ming Empire". The Century of Humiliation is a bunch of round-eyes coming in and saying "lmfao no" to China's entire 3,000 year old political, religious, and cultural tradition. It was a complete upheaval of China's view of itself as the center of the world. It was moving China to the periphery, which is an absolutely heinous humiliating act. The Chinese were embarrassed to be just another conquered people, subjected to another people's culture, whereas before their conquerors had gladly aped their ways. The world can have multiple overlapping systems ongoing at any given time. If the Jews tell the Chinks that they're still the center of the world, they'll gladly take all of the reverse mortgages the Jews give them. They do this in the West, it's just the slop they feed us is different than what the Chinks would get. The Jews have no problem telling Americans one thing, Euros another, and the Chinese a third. The Jews see us as fucking farm animals, why would you expect them to try and be consistent in their narratives? It's not like the masses can even get access to these different narratives. Go ask some Boomer on the street how he could find out what rice-farmers in Guangzhou think about steel tariffs if you want proof of this. In a monistic system everything is in one container, but how things are arranged internally can vary. You might not be the ones actually in charge, but you sure as shit can get more slop than the other pigs in the pen.
